This little cat was so lucky that you came into his life...My two dogs found a cat, and would not move from where it was..i went over, and the cat had been hit by a car, and i could feel the broken bones under the skin..I hitch hiked to a local vet with the injured cat and my 2 dogs, and the cat survived, just, but only because he was given immediate treatment for shock. The vet said if my dogs had not alerted me, the cat would have died of blood loss,so even animals can save each other...

I discovered the videos about Alera after he had passed, but God belss you! You were a patient and kind man to that cat, you stuck with him from the day that kitty walked into your life. He will be waiting at the Rainbow Bridge for you. I'm crying as I write this. I've watched the videos about this beautiful cat's recovery and I honor you. You have my deepest respect, I am an animal rights activist and I adore God's creature, from watching your videos you have inspired me. Rest In Peace Alera.

oh it makes me so sad to watch this vid knowing that 2 days later he died :( its just sooooooo saddening!! he tried so hard to live but bless you for looking after him so well, even though his life was short it was full of love and happiness and its clear that alera was so patient despite his pain because he knew you were helping him for his own good. Im sorry about getting really mad about the poor puppy, i just got very upset about how he died. An i shouldnt be mad at you, because you wanted to save him, but it was too late. i should be mad at the owner. As soon as i posted the comment i felt really bad about what i said. I hope you can forgive me. Again VERY sorry. The dogs death wasnt your falt.

ya sure i don't go to slauter houses, but i do rescue many animals, i go to the pound every week to rescue at least two pets from getting killed. i adopt them and give them to loving homes, to be treated very well. i also rescue DOGS AND CATS OR ANY OTHER INJURED OR STARVING ANIMAL off the street.

So sorry for your loss. You are an angel for rescuing and taking such care of Alera. He went from a very sorry little kitten who appeared to be close to death, to a beautiful cat. I am just curious though as to why his back legs were never amputated, was there a reason for this? God bless you, there should be more people in the world like you!

Animals are NOT the same as humans! I had a cat which broke it's leg and it was not possible for the vet to repair it. It was therefore amputated. She made a good recovery and got around perfectly well - something she wouldn't have been able to do if she had had to drag a paralysed leg around with her. An animal will drag a paralyzed limb, possibly causing injury and infection.

I just read that Alera has died. I'm literally sick to my stomach as I've watched his recovery from step to step.

It's very sad, but although it was a short time, I think he enjoyed life.

If it wasn't for you Justin, Alera would have died that day in the alley. Thank you for that.

Just went to your streaming video to see how wee Alera was doing, and was absolutely heartbroken to find out that he's left us. I shed more than a few tears as I've been following his story since his very 1st video, and fell in love with his spunk and tenacity despite his physical limitation.
