The cocoa beans from Saturn Valley had intense psychological effects on people. So intense, that the Mr. Saturns could only with stand it, and it caused them constantly say boing and zoom. Ness' PSI allowed him to perceive it's true form.

Looking back, i remember the first time i played Earthbound. It was a challenge at first, but like all great RPG's, it went from silver medal material to gold as things went by. It seems that the little things are what i remember most. The sesame seeds in the desert, getting Mr T's socks for him, searching for all the ultimate weapons, and of course, the Iron pencil. Ive since played through the game 7 times, and i still get a laugh from the overall charm that only Earthbound can provide.

I love these scenes in the game. Most RPG's never give you the time to reflect and remember "Hey, you've come so far, remember when you had trouble defeating [name of tough enemy early in the game here]? Well now you can kill them in one fell swoop!" your adventure thus far, and look to the future as well. That, and the music and background are so psychadelic.
