he was and is the greatest, no one compares to him, and he seems like a very sweet and gentle person, even when he was young he was shy and very mellow. Oh how I wish I could have met him, but I can brag that we are of the same generation, when life was simple......:>)
I have just started my first cofe of the morning. Thank you for posting this wonderful music. My body has become so much lighter and Iam ready to face the day.
Johnny Mathis's rendition here of "The Party's Over" is really lovely. Stylized in typical Mathis fashion, yes, but more relaxed and personal. He isn't belting out the song as he does with so many others and this gives it a sweeter quality. Man O Man Johnny was big in the '50s! Unfortunately, music changed to rock, which doesn't do anything for me, but Johnny is still working and creating music that seems to be from heaven.
Thank you Cybernautev, for that bit of information regarding Johnny Mathis! I feel more informed. I alway thought Oprah was the first real black millionaire. Johnny is just awesome. Thanks for this video and picture post!
Gosh, the other day someone said I look like this cat. Johnny was fine! Baby boy looks like a Chocolate God. Was he really big in his day? This music was a bit before my time. What a compliment!
He was one of Sinatra's main competitors, what does that tell you? He was the first black millionaire entertainer. He was very big then and is reverred and very big now.
@Kenandave Johnny is still big as in a true American Living Legend. If you were told you look like him, oh geez it is a compliment of the highest. Smiles.
What album was this song on?

He was a high jumper (at 5'8" no less!). He referred to he and his partner as looking like Mutt and Jeff.

Do you realise he was an Olympic standard runner before he started singing?

No argument here. I like the occasional high notes he makes in this song. They have an erielly pleasing quality.
