an opeth album with loomis solos would be interesting, or a jeff loomis album with mellow opeth parts and mikael vocals (clean brutal) would be very interesting too...
prolly get some **** for this but, Jeff loomis, altho i am a big nevermore fan and even his solo album was killer, but i like Opeth solos are better than loomis. Loomis is too all over the place for me and i find them emotionless for the most part. Not doggin on his talent, the guy is amazing player. But Opeth's solos are so melodic and I think they are doing it right.
this is for sure one of the greatest bands of all time, and they are there for their unique style and because they keep exploring without forgetting their roots
I usually ay that "ahh, aaahhh, ahhhhhoooohhooooohh!" part when I ride roller coasters going through loops, eyes closed, breeze on my skin. :) Epic stuff gentlemen.
finally a video where i can watch mikael's fingers when he plays the solo... almost all the live videos dont show the actual guitar playing on the parts i wanna see them play
The Drapery Falls might be one of the most underrated songs of all time. The creativity and the dynamics behind the track is simply amazing. So is the rest of Blackwater Park as well...
"You would have been a lot more famous or whatever... But we didn't, you know, we love this." And that, dear YouTubers, is why I also love this; they're being thoroughly non-mainstream.
If I were stranded on an island forever and I could only bring ONE band to listen to, it'd be Opeth; the whole discography. They have so much variety and so much soul within every note they play. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should be reserved for musicians like them.
Åkerfeldt plays the guitar really good, the riffs that Opeth creates always give me something...they can remeber me a place..a feeling..and alot more. I like this of Opeth , they're absolutely fantastic!!
but they can creat mellodic riffs just like dat...mixing jazzy sounds...with latin and every kind of sound there is...remember bleak...had kind of an arabic riff at the beggining...or dammnation album...this whole mellow mood through it...that what makes em good
It s not that difficult, with a bit of work, you can reach to that. I can, only by training on opeth' lyrics (on blackwater park).
You have to try not to scream. You must "shake" your throat without using the normal sounds for speaking; there is no voice at all, just the air passing trough your throat and making it tremble.
Sorry i cannot be more clear, this is a question of feeling, more than technic. Besides, im french, so its not that easy.
grammies are related with popularity and merchandising, it is not about music, your argument is completely the opposite of a guy that really listens to metal
your point has some understandable statement, but popularity isn't equal to quality
nowadays, most of the known "musicians" suck, even the ones that win grammies, not all of them, but most
and most of the real metalheads, dislike slipknot for some reason, and every guy that doesn't know real extreme metal make the mistake of mention slipknot in a metal video, and comment something about them in every metal video
ok...im not gonna try t prove anything t you...i just said what they telling me...and if u wanna know at video u saw thats NOTHING man.....and its recorded by a cell fone..what u expect t sound man???Xaxa...this videos is with my stupid friends some mornings....whatever.......maybe im a dreamer but im not the only one...::P
that part is Dm chord and C chord, if you don't know these they are, C: fret 0 on high E, fret 1 on B, fret 0 on G, fret 2 on D, and fret 3 on A. For Dm: it's string hig E fret 1, string B; fret 3, string G fret 2, and if you like you can use the open D with it. You can figure the pattern out yourself
of course, no doubt about ot, well said... STICK TO IT... akerfeldt vocals are marvelous, I wish I could scream at least kind of near as he does, anyways... Opeth are killers creating music.
Don't these guys ever wear something besides black? I find it so strange that so many metallers wear almost nothing but plain, black clothes, black clothes with band logos or simple print/logos on them and camo cargos. Anyone else feel the same? I mean, what's so bad about a yellow-striped polo shirt or something?

I mean, what's so bad about a yellow-striped polo shirt or something?
kommisar 4 years ago
because metal isnt about image, its about the music. black doesnt portray an image because they dress the same so its more about the music.
that and polo shirts are gay.
duPlentyful 4 years ago
Maybe dressing all in black portrays an image. Ever think of that?
Polos shirts are not gay. You are mistaken.
kommisar 4 years ago
sorry, but when i see men in yellow striped polo shirts its such a turnoff.. i`m gonna have to agree with du
supfirion 4 years ago
Well, fine, you don't like yellow polos. What about something like an orange t-shirt?
kommisar 4 years ago
Much of Opeth's stuff is gothic in nature, both in melody and lyrics. So, naturally, to fit that style of music they wear black clothing.
Anirbanghost 4 years ago
Meh, they can still wear non-black clothes OFF stage.
kommisar 4 years ago
I can't picture them wearing anything else.
