  • Noob Distros is too easy

I am ready for The Ultimate Quest Of Gentoo

  • @Auroraa94 Wine is better every day

  • I know the guy who voice acted this......XD

  • Unfortunately the more linux versuins get "user firendly" the crappier the experience and the more time you spend fixing bugs. Frankly i gave it up after years of use because it just wasted too much of your time.

  • @ionutiortoman konsole is the best GUI (yep, i am KDE)

  • LOL. Never, Ever gets old!

  • The most professional programs on Linux I found in audio editing and music making. they are amazingly good. And if you make music, I would definitely give Linux a try.

  • I must admit, the community of Linux is very good. You post your question in a forum, or news groups or anywhere else in the comnuity, you are almost guaranteed a good and usefull answer very quickly.

It's just that Linux is not for you, if you do not want to tinkle (if that is the word). The majority of Windows users would not like it, because they are used to letting the OS decide for them what to do, and in Linux you have the full control yourself.

  • @MsPwain "and in Linux you have the full control yourself."

    "the full control yourself"

    "full control"

Rememer that word and install linux

  • Is linux perfect? No. But can it be a really viable alternative? YES. Guess what! If I have a problem with my linux machine, I go on a forum, and I can get answers to my question in as little as half an hour. While I wait, I can go elsewhere and work on other things. And a lot of these guys KNOW what they're talking about. I don't pay money to sit on a phone line for 2 hours, I post, read, troubleshoot, and solve my issue. Easy as pi.

  • I think Steve should be the new face of Linux, Tux is overrated.

  • @ScienceMinion I dont understand why we gave him name Tux

But we will not change it to a minecraft miner XD

  • Classic.

  • I have more friends now LMAO!!!!!

  • I saw this way back in the day, today I was trying to compile a game and I had to check my libraries were up to date, then I had to run a bunch of scripts and it reminded me of this video so here I am...a Super Villain.

  • Let's not forget that you can do anything you want in Linux.

  • can i make sweet love to Linux?

  • @Viriatus yeah, that's the only thing you'll make love to if you're a linux-nerd

  • @93riven You're just mad because you dunno how to install linux.

  • @Viriatus Everybody can

Just remember that console is easy

And its now my fav gui

  • @SpeedHacks True!!!!

This man has brains in the right place!!!

  • I love writing Shell Script it's fun, and easy... :D

  • @maw88ify Console is the best GUI

  • "The future will be open."

  • @jeroeniskoning Too late, it is!

  • Old, but still funny.

  • lov it

  • Linux:

An OS that was made for robots.

  • @GregsTechBlog Win 7:

    Prototype of a toilet paper

  • fist off ubuntu right now is extremely easy to set up just pop it in your drive and install very few people have to do any thing to get it to work

  • @ ever1tubes

I think Linux Mint is way easier to use for new people than Linux Ubuntu ... flash play and video drives, codec all come installed in Linux Mint even Compiz Fusion is already installed... But I Like Ubuntu it's what I'm using right now...

  • does linux mint use deb or what does it use

  • @ever1tubes rpm

mint is not very good distro

opensuse or even gentoo but with KDE

  • @maw88ify I like gentoo and opensuse :3

  • fail how? do you even know what Linux is or how many devises run Linux.......you have a extreme lack of knowledge of the shit your trying to spew

  • That's awfully presumptuous. You assume that because I do not like Linux that I must therefore not know anything about it or the array of devices that use variations of Linux however you have absolutely no evidence of this.

  • your right that was awfully presumptuous of you to say that if you have Linux and are smart enough to use it to the fullest that it is somehow a fail. windows users are like children pointing at the picture wall not knowing how or why they just like the pretty colors.....

Windows would be a good platform if they would take...say XP and develop it to its fullest instead of putting band-aids on broken stuff and advertise it doesn't have the problem.

  • I suppose there is a reason you call yourself "VillageIdiot8055"; perhaps it has something to do with your complete lack of reading comprehension. You're offended by what I've said but unfortunately my statement doesn't given you any insight regarding my technical ability or even how I came to my conclusion thus you resort to making things up.

  • YOU should call yourself the village idiot cause again you acted like a left leaning fool by attacking me and running around the point to avoid the question and try to divert and deflect stupidity in a different direction.....

so i ask again how does running Linux put you on the " fail train that is Linux " because if you are trying to say that Linux is a lesser OS than windows you are sadly mistaken and i will question your lack of quality judgment in making sound decisions....

  • Your reaction is hilarious since you initially insulted me and now you try to play the victim.

How is Linux a failure? Have you ever looked at commercial ventures that deal solely with Linux? There aren't very many of them and they aren't making that much money. Linux as a platform offers horrible backwards compatibility and lacks cohesion. Meaning it is not very appealing to ISVs. Linux is basically a pot-luck dinner. You get some nice parts but as a whole it's lackluster.

  • Linux is by far the most backwards compatible operating system in existence, you can litteraly compile 15 year old code and just run it, as if nothing happened.. Now I'd like to see how many of the win95 apps still work in windows 7..

  • That's a very uninformed statement. Whether or not it works depends highly on how you compile it and whether or not you have access to fifteen year old dependencies. Sure, your hello world program will probably compile and run--which is true on Windows as well--but more complicated programs will most likely not. Then of course you ignore the amazing amount of backwards compatibility Windows has. I can install a wide array of software that is ten to twenty years old but of course, not all.

  • So what's so bad about an OS that forces you to use the newest and best software available? You don't want to evolve?

  • Well, let's say that I don't want to "evolve", let's say I like some particular piece of software that's not being currently maintained or proves too difficult to port. Then it's pretty damn bad. It's about choice, and freedom.

  • Of course it's a matter of choice, everyone is free to use whatever software they choose.

I mean... in 2009 I was running XP X64 Pro till 7 Ultimate X64 came along and I had no problems all year long. On the other side, a good friend of mine who loves Linux put a lot of work into his machines running all sorts of distros and they still don't run right.

    That's just a random fact :)

Linux is great on servers, it's the ultimate OS for that.

  • Further in the server role UNIX offers a more stable and mature product. Linux is really large for embedded devices and thus cannot be use in a multitude of devices. That's the reason why Cisco (Linksys) ended up dumping Linux. On the desktop OS X and Windows provided much better platforms for developers than Linux. Linux has been very hostile to developers and hardware vendors which will forever keep Linux in its current place.

  • you must be kidding. Linux is awesome. I have everything I need with it. I really miss nothing.

A few years ago I joined the fail train and it was called Windows 95, joined by 98, me, 2k, xp, vista and that was too much for me. No more chance for backsteps with Microsoft. Really, they killed development of new technologies!

Linux is NOT a fail train!

  • cool thanks linux for removing all those window headaches

  • I like the beat. <3

  • Looking at this on my Ubuntu Jackalope comp, its flash tho' so the sound doesn't work on it. And my intel on-board ICH5 isn't supported in linux either (found that bug report) so I had to get a soundblaster card from 1998 to get any sound at all. I wonder if listening to the sound makes this video any better, hmmmm I guess I'll just have to check with my windows comp.

  • Is it me or is this video laggy... anyways linux does rule...

  • Yeah, it is... It's because whoever ripped it from the old SWF file didn't do it all that well, and that bad file got passed around to everyone putting the vid up on youtube.

  • Yep..

  • Yeahh boyee. Linux... for super villains.

  • Has anyone noticed that all the videos on youtube telling others to go to Linux are just videos with CompizFusion eyecandy? It makes me sad. Those people wouldn't even use Linux if it weren't for the eyecandy. I hope compiz dies.

  • kiddie boi. I don't use compiz..

the windows videos here just plain suck so it wouldn;t matter if we're taping ourselves typing in command line on Linux, LINUX would STILLL rock!!

  • Linux is good. But Compiz is not. Neither is X and Alsa. :S I hope they fix this stuff.

  • Yeah, it's really annoying.

It's like "Ubuntu!" And you watch it and it's just Compiz tricks.

Doesn't do me any good. I'm already running it anyway, and I've actually left Compiz off since it's ... How do I put this... Compiz is good, but it's not great. Or necessary.

  • i haved the Linux Ubuntu 8.04 but it crashed :/

    LINUX ROCKS !

  • Ur doin it wrong!

  • All aboard the fail boat! Hopefully he can get it up and running...

  • @DjMati9 Use Gentoo, it never crash (EVER!!!)

  • Linux Rocks...We all know it.

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • you have obviously never used it.

  • @kenbo111 I got it on my PC(not in vm(openSUSE))

  • @kenbo111 i got it as only os on my pc, laptop, and even tv

  • Linux has games.. (I can play Counterstrike World of Warcraft, GTA SAn Andreas, Warcraft 3, Unreal tournament, Call of Duty 4 and a lot more on Linux)

Had Drivers (Out of the box even beter than windows)

    Has games again...

    Has a lot of support...

And a lot of professional applications (blender, Gimp OpenOffice..)

    You're a narrow minded user...

  • @Slorginvader None of the games you mentioned have native linux clients, except if you meant ut2k4 when you mentioned ut.

  • i had to login on youtube account to reply to this. I believe your just a game nerd kid.Linux is not about gaming and entertainment. Go read about OS history / development. And know about your comments. "no games" - false "no drivers" - false "no support" - FALSE, you can find better than a whole community "no professional applications" - "free software doesnt mean like free beer"(Richard Stalman)

  • Linux Rock...you know

  • You're an excellent troll.

  • @DoomCoke

    True.

  • @DoomCoke Your first reason 'no games' tells us you're an idiot. Linux is specifically for professional applications and development, dumbass. Photoshop and World of Warcraft are not 'professional applications' jackass.

    I don't even use Linux, I run Win7, and even still I can tell you're a dipshit.

  • @xRawlins i wanted so much to agree with you but Photoshop is a pro app. Wanted or not.

  • @tsirko1990 Wine is always with you

  • @xRawlins Remember Doomcoke wrote that 2 years ago, A lot has changed since then.

  • @xRawlins lol , photoshop is not professional? so what is - GIMP? hahahaha :D

  • @xRawlins Nope, you brainz was eaten by bill gates who likes fresh brains

I dont play games(only minecraft, but it have a version for lin)

And i always have wine(it become much better)

And remember that Console is the best GUI

  • @DoomCoke yes, awesome wine

yes, LOTS OF DRIVERS (I MEAN LOTS!!!)

    yes, again the AWESOME WINE

yes, 999999 of forums on which you can get help in 2 min

    yes, again wine you sucker

Win is a toilet paper prototype

  • compile your binaries, have you ever programed anything. anyway microsoft servers runs on linux.

  • No they don't.

  • yes they do google it.

  • 24oscar24, Microsoft hired Akamai to use their caching system. Akamai runs linux, but it's 3rd party, and it's used only for DNS. Microsoft does not run their servers on linux. Get things right.

  • Do we really want the world to run Linux? Not me. I am rather happy that only a few are willing to try it. Whether the people that actually try it are gutsy or just plain intelligent, I cannot help but be happy about it. But that just it - only the gutsy or the really intelligent people are the only people that Linux is really for. Also they are the only ones who will reap the benefits of using Linux. Let the rest of the world's idiots stick to Windows and all the stupid crap they offer.

  • That's it finally somebody makes sence.

GNU/Linux is for elite people not normal people.

  • Actually, it's for people that have the guts to start something and who do not give up because things get a little hard. It's also for intelligent people (people who can learn new things and like doing so). If you feel that you have any of these characteristics, please feel free to get into it. Your welcome to the Linux World -- it is yours for the taking.

  • To summarize: If you think that you are a complete idiot, then do not try Linux. Use Mac instead. But if you consider yourself to be anything above retarded IQ, AND you are NOT chicken to try new things, then GNU/Linux and/or BSD are for you. Just be sure not to wimp-out.

  • @3l337mind that means that only elite people will survive the 2012

  • You made it seem so hard to switch when the guy said all the stuff. All you need is to not be a complete n00b.

  • yea its pretty easy much easier than windows you dont have to fiddle around with license codes and crap and have you ever tried to install vista on a computer that was less than thrity seconds old? impossible and once youve install linux thats it your on you dont have to install needless anti viruses and try to find a word processer that doesnt suck cos pc world decided to put works on instead of office and oh yes i dont buy from pc world my parents do my next computer will be from alienware

  • Nicely said.

  • Right on Dude! Gotta go update my Kernel!

  • HAH!

  • hahaha, this is awesome!

  • HAHAHAHAH awesome!

  • Divertente. In inglese ma abbastanza semplice da seguire.

  • bad frame rate watch "ooredJ7_qC4" clip instead !

  • Hmmmm.. Odd, isn't it?
