So I see that there are a lot of people talking about playing just one fairway wood and I'd thought I would give my worthless two cents. I play the Nickent 3DX utility wood int the 4 wood loft. I have had absolutely no trouble by not having a 3 wood. The 4 wood kinda replaces the 3 and 5 for me. I can play the long shots over water if I have to without being tempted to hit shots out of my comfort zone by carrying a 3 wood. I can carry it 230-240 and that's all I need.

of course its the loft you tool standard 5 wood loft 21degrees standard 3 wood 15degress any other lofts are just manufacturers variations. And to produce different ball flights, it's the loft that generates initial ball flight, knob thats why there is a difference in lofts! not just length!

how old are your clubs? 21 degrees is the loft of a 7 wood. I carry a 7 and it is that loft. depending on brand, 3= 12.5-16, 4= 16.5-17, 5 =17.5-18 so on. and i guess you could bend the clubs to change loft, but for that would change it's number...
