  • I don't understand university students of all people trying to ban free speech.

  • What a sad day for freedom.

  • Professors at some universities don't educate... they indoctrinate!!!

  • Americans kill women and children.

  • small brain = small mind

  • Islam is a docrine of satan!

Did you students want to learn something new????? Do you?? Or are you too bust protesting and smoking pot, or internet porn and sex?

The gospel of Islam say that a man cannot be assured of heaven unless he dies and gives his life in jihad or holy war.

So yes every Muslim should be put on a special watch list. If 911 did not teach us perhaps you liberals will learn after we loose a city to a nuk or biological weapon!

Man the students are indoctrinated or what?

  • I have listened to Ann Coulter and she does use hate speech in my opinion. We can't descend into the kind of uncivilized dialogue that she promotes. Otherwise our politics might start becoming americanized. Look how well all that insulting and vitriole is working for them down there! NOT!! My cousin died in Afghanistan to protect women from discrimination. Ann Coulter promotes discrimination and then tries to play the victim. Informing her of our laws is not discrimination or a threat.

  • Amen!

  • I would much rather take the shot of apparently rejecting "free-speech" than subject my fellow students (especially those that fall into the categories she spews hate speech against) to blatant discrimination on their own campus.

  • @hilarylambz

What about the people who wanted to hear her speak? Don't you consider that THEY were victims of discrimination?

Or does this only go one way???

  • @Brdstfff No I do not consider them victims of discrimination. Would you allow a Nazi to speak on your campus, and then when shut down consider those that wanted to see the Nazi spew hate speech as discriminated against? I feel this is a fair comparison because both speak of killing others simply due to their race/ethnicity, both share radical and controversial views, and both are blatantly racist. They even agree on bashing the gays.

  • @hilarylambz

No I would not allow a Nazi to speak on my campus but I also wouldn't allow FASCIST BIGOTS to stop a well-known celebrity from speaking either.

In case you haven't noticed, Canadian soldiers are in a muslim country AS WE SPEAK killing muslims. And if you pay taxes YOU'RE PAYING FOR IT.

Do you know what muslims advocate for gays? DEATH. Yes that's right. Gays are to be MURDERED. But even knowing that I'll be you still support muslims. That's because you're brainwashed.

  • DEMOCRACY DIED when the U of O forced her to cancel her speech. The students present in her "camel" reply did not persecuted her on the spot but rather laughed and applaud her answer. They too are as guilty as Ann.Look, there are millions of Ann in this world, the only way to fight them is by intellectual dose not by threats of violence against her. You have shown the world how pathetic and narrow minded the students of U of Ottawa are. U lost the opportunity to confront bigotry.

  • With NARROW-MINDEDNESS and BIGOTRY, U of O students REJECT the freedoms in Canada. People DIED defending FREEDOM OF SPEECH and because you disagree with someone, you think they shouldn't have the RIGHT TO SPEAK.

You have the right NOT TO LISTEN to someone with whom you disagree, but you DO NOT have the right to stop them from speaking.

  • Protesting like what there doing IS exersizing their right to free "speech", which is what you claim Ann Coulter preeches. She preeches hate speech, which is not what soliders died for

  • @team1200

She "preeches" (I think you mean "preaches") NOTHING. She has a viewpoint and she expresses it. Or at least she tries to but ignorant BIGOTS don't like what she has to say so instead of countering her comments with well-thought out comments of their own, they choose to SILENCE her.

It's the Liberal (aka Socialist) way.

But thanks, though. You've put yourselves and your intolerance under a glaring spotlight. WELL DONE!

  • @Brdstfff Um... Liberals aren't socialists dude. They're Capitalists with slightly more left ideologies from Conservatives. And please try not to get hostile in these arguements. It makes things harder for everyone.

  • @JosephPockaj

I'm not the least bit hostile. I'm simply pointing out that there are intolerant bigots in Canada who prevented Freedom of Speech from being exercised in Ottawa last night.

I don't care if you don't like what Coulter had to say. Don't listen to her. But to stop her from speaking is fascist.

  • @Brdstfff

Calling us Nazis and telling us to go to hell

is a little hostile. Also, there are laws in Canada against hate speech, which includes racist comments like telling a Muslim to ride their magic carpet so they can never use air ports. It's not to do with my opinion, its's the law.

  • @JosephPockaj

There are NO laws in Canada against hate speech. The Human Rights Commission is all but dead; it tries to stop people from saying what they think. It's losing every case and the Supreme Court won't back it up because insults are NOT hate speech; they're insults. Please quote a law that states you can't tell a muslim to ride a carpet or not use an airport. You can't because IT DOESN'T EXIST. It's neither Defamation nor Slander which ARE illegal.

    DO SOME RESEARCH.

  • @Brdstfff

Wow, that all cap spelling is gettin rather...hostile. Just kidding. But seriously, it says right in The Criminal Code of Canada (1985)

that hateful propaganda is prohibited on various grounds.

  • @JosephPockaj

Please define "hateful propaganda" and "various grounds".

I advise you to check your facts. Check the case against Ezra Levant for printing the mohammed cartoons. The HRC dropped the case because they knew they couldn't win it. To even bring it was against Freedom of Speech and they knew it.

Richard Warman worked for the HRC; he'll be charged with Entrapment. That's a REAL charge, not an insult against snivelling little babies who can't take a little criticism.

  • She has a view point? Here "viewpoint" is that US needs to invade the middle east kill all their leaders and convert them to Christianity, i dont call that a view point more then a big middle finger to the middle east and Canada's multiculturalism.

Also telling a muslim girl to take a camel because according to ann, muslims should not be able to fly is despicable.

Or maybe her "viewpoint" of saying jews are flawed.

This is hate speech and its not how it works here in Canada

  • @team1200

Hate to break this to you dear but Canadian soldiers are in Afghanistan KILLING MUSLIMS as we speak.

Since most muslims are terrorists and we can't tell which are and which aren't it makes sense to have a few planes a week set aside only for muslims with an all-muslim crew. I would sure feel much safer flying if that were to happen.

And yes I do realize that's profiling. And I couldn't care less. If the shoe fits sometimes you just have to wear the damn thing.

  • @Brdstfff are you fucking brain dead or just retarted? most muslims are terrorists? really, so there is over a billion terrorists.. 1/6 of the world is a terrorist. No wonder you like ann coulter, your the same narrow minded, blow bullshit out your ass person that she is. preaching jews need to be perfected, muslims need to be on a no fly list, should ride magic carpets, the world needs to be christian, and tellin a woman to ride a camel, is not acceptable.. fucking idiots

  • @briantheman890

When did I say I liked Ann Coulter? I just think that everyone should be allowed to have their say.

Both Coulter and I obviously know A LOT more about muslims than you do.

  • @team1200

You clearly have no understanding of Freedom of Speech. You can't shut someone up because you don't like what they say. You can only win a Court Case against someone for Defamation or Slander. Hurting someone's feelings isn't covered by the Criminal Code of Canada. I can SAY whatever I want, but if I say something that causes you financial loss, then I'm liable. If I just hurt your feelings, that's rough noogies.

For those cases we have a saying:

    SUCK IT UP, SUNSHINE.

  • She was allowed to come and speak. It was prevented by a protest and she was simply informed by the university vice-president about the hate speech laws of Canada. That's all. We do have free speech in this country and we are free to say that we don't want hate mongers in our country. Let's preserve civility in this country. PEACE, ORDER and GOOD GOVERNMENT!

  • @treasure1072004

Unfortunately, the actions of the students displayed none of those attributes. They are immature spoiled brats who are used to getting what they want no matter who gets hurt in the process.

They should have to spend a year in the Armed Forces. Then they'd appreciate what fighting for freedom means.

  • Go fuck yourself , your nazi bableings mean nothing in Canada.

  • @Brdstfff

they should ban ann coulter's stupid ass from speaking anywhere, free speech or not. shes a moronic woman talk about how jews need to be perfected, muslims shouldnt be allowed to fly, should use their magic carpets and that christianity is the only right religion and the world needs to be christian... is not acceptable, no matter free speech or not. Hate speech and bigotry is not allowed in canada.

  • @briantheman890

Banning someone from speaking is fascist. Would you prefer to live in a fascist country? Go to an islamic country. They'll cut your head off for saying something they don't like.

  • @Brdstfff if the governement had banned her, that would be fascist, not a group of 2000 people sick and tired of hearing some bigot tell people their race/religion isnt good enough and are terrorists.

citizens of a country not wanting someone, and a government not allowing someone are 2 different things, get your shit straight

  • @briantheman890

Preventing a person from speaking in a democratic country is a display of fascism and intolerance.

A religion whose terrorist adherents obey its commands to:

"slay them wherever ye find them, for persecution of Muslims is worse than slaughter of non-believers" (Quran 2:191-193)

    and

"strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them" (Quran 8:12)

isn't good enough for my country. Pointing that out is simply stating a fact.

  • @briantheman890 Hey retard. If a monkey threaten violence against to prevent you from speaking out or if 2000 angery student block the entry to your event, that is censorship and it is illegal in a civilized nation.

  • @xlunax86 bit late on the commenting hey you dumb bitch?

you know, when soemthings 3+ months, in this case 7

odds are its useless to comment

  • @briantheman890 I see your point. Right now I'm reading Thomas Paine's, The Age of Reason. Yelling at him would be a waste of time. You are not dead yet I think.

  • @briantheman890

What you decided is "acceptable" or "unacceptable" is irrelevant in a Court of Law. Freedom of Speech includes the right to insult and that's not bigotry. The only spoken or written word that's against the law is Defamation or Libel. To be a chargeable offense both must be proven to cost its victim money or his reputation; his ability to earn money. Anything else is insults and is okay. Safeway sells Kleenex to deal with it.

  • stfu that b*tch can get out of our country and back to you hillbillys who bang their own family members... thats how she came up with these ideologies right?

  • @poopoodadoo

Thanks EVER so much for making my point so succinctly. You can't come up with a good intelligent debate so you resort to name-calling.

I've seen it so many times. Really, it's becoming quite tedious. DO try and educate yourself just A LITTLE so you can actually say something coherent.

  • @Brdstfff But we do have laws AGAINST hate speech though, which is what the protest is all about. Things are different in Canada.

  • @JosephPockaj

Please tell me what those laws say. There are many cases before the Human Rights Commission being fought AND WON won by people for simply saying what was on their minds. The Supreme Court will not support the HRC in those cases because they're against Freedom of Speech. One can only be legally prosecuted for defamation or slander, NOT for insulting someone.

You obviously don't understand what constitutes "hate speech" as it pertains to the Legal System in Canada.

  • @Brdstfff

It's more than insult though. She is spreading messages to the youth trying to convince them to take away the equal rights of Muslims. Thats prejudiced propaganda, which is infact illegal in Canada.

  • CarletonNews is a bunch of idiots

  • true that brother,we all know who pays the bills at carleton,JEWS
