Noone should ever try to recreate or reanact anything like this because this song was made undewr the safety of professionals and any tunes uploaded like this will not be listened to! :-D
Hmmm, I would consider this psy-DnB, Rockwell puts elements into his music comparable to infected mushroom...but this is much cleaner *not trying to start genre war here*
Did anyone who's arguing that it should be played backwards actually try reversing it? It's pretty clear if you do that it's supposed to be played this way...
@Decidan Haha I just realised my comment is confusing as. I mean, if you reverse it, it makes it obvious that the way it's played in this vid (forwards) is the way its meant to be. Rockwell you made a really confusing record to talk about!
@MopmanPlays Ok maybe my comment was a bit confusing. I was agreeing with you. But yes, it is a tune asking for disagreement. I can't get enough of it though. Love the build up for the second drop. So atmospheric.
Amazing tune....anyone thinking it supposed to be played backwards obviously doesn't quite get it....I don't doubt it sounds nice backwards, but take it for what it is....
Hey guys, not meaning to spam or anything but I just set up a channel for my dance music project 'NOVA' and I'd love some views and comments, maybe even a subscription or two.
This tune is gnarly, sounds like two giant crabs fighting for air in the bottom of a suffocating well. Fuck all the people that don't see the beauty in this, calling it a fucking novelty track. Get over yourselves, it's music. Not every producer aims to smash your dancefloor 24/7, so dicks can fuck off ya heard. Word.
Right. Fucking hell. KonFusedKid23 has got it right. The sounds ARE all backwards... but this is what it sounds like when played forwards. On the vinyl version, as said before, the grooves are backwards so the song plays backwards, and it sounds a hell of a lot better!! "everything (& U(" is a sample of what the full, reversed, track sounds like so listen to that. or download Hospital Podcast #130 from iTunes and let Tony Coleman explain it to you.
@TommyBizzle420 no mate in reverse engineering most of the samples are reversed, im sure some sound like they are normal like some claps, but its all arranged in a forward flowing manner just using reversed samples. everything (&U) is a totally different track, but the vinyl still plays backwards. but its not playing backwards, the song is just cut to vinyl in reverse so that it plays from the centre out, but the track is playing the right way round. reverse engineering, reversed, sounds shit
@SQUIZZLER24 no mate, it's meant to be played backwards, if you have it on vinyl you put the needle at the end of the cut and the needle spins outward instead of in, meaning the record is playing backwards
if you dont beleive everything & U and reverse engineering are the same track listen to episode 130 of the hospital podcast, the dj uses vinyl turntables and when he plays reverse engineering it sounds exactly the same as everything & U
@KonFusedKid23 Yeah, I know about the needle moving out instead of in, I have the vinyl myself. ;)
But if you really think of it, take the beat structure... Reverse it. Now if you think of that structure played that way, it sounds nothing like Everything & U. Plus, reversed or not... Everything & U doesn't have that dark, growly bass sound or the airy, wide sounds we find at the beginning of Reverse Engineering. Not to mention that really quick wooden ticking before the drops.
@KonFusedKid23 Oh, also... Check out this video... This is reverse Engineering played Backwars, doesn't sound like Everything & U... :P /watch?v=WFQSuAcN5kI
Everything & U is the flip-side. Different track, which also has the same 'in-to-out' needle movement as the A-side.
the track is made forward.. as you would make any other track... but the grooves on the vinyl go the other way, hence the titles name "reverse engineering" the way the track is played is in reverse
if you play the sample on boomkat it sounds like this. I don't think the song actually plays backwards, its just the way vinyl has been designed so to plays from inside out.
this is wank!! it has gotta be played backwards peeps check out the Hospital Podcast 130 With London Elektricity.. the songs @ 9:45sec slaming track !!
@iiTRUEJUNGLIST Probably got bored of playing the tune the right way over and over, and decided to play it this way. Or maybe he was drunk and lazy and didn't care, who knows :P
Or maybe you saw a deejay playing with you thinking it was Rockwell when it actually was an other DJ ?
BTW., the tune is made from reversed samples, so if this is the right way of playing the tune it shouldn't sound reversed.
Blows everything out the water, such a divided opinion on this, people are either saying it's the best thing since sliced bread others are saying it's the biggest pile of shit, just shows how truely innovating this track is. This is history in the making, it will be remembered for year's to come, if you can get a vinyl then get it!!!

The vinyl for this track plays the opposite way a record normally plays, it starts in the centre and then ends at the edge of the record.

this song is meant to be played backwards it's been designed for vinyl so that when you play it on a turntable it literally plays backwards
if you want to hear this song the way it's meant to be heard then listen to the flip side of this single "everything (& U("
KonFusedKid23 11 months ago
@KonFusedKid23 Reverse Engineering and Everything & U are two completely different tracks, they don't relate.

It's not meant to be played backwards. The entire point is the use of reversed samples in a straight beat.
