@bulavo The eastern front was definitely the bloodiest side of the war. Without it Britain and America couldn't of destroyed Nazi Germany and Japan.

Soviets destroyed nazi germany, allies helped! 84% of Nazi war power were destroyed by Red Army! and Russian soldiers took Berlin! Roosevelt hesitated to see what will happen, and when the soviets started to push back the germans! thats when the d-day happened! it was all politics for americans!

you no i always wonder why Hitler had to go to russia, was he mad or was it a POWER TRIP , i dont no but if he would have kept his agreement with Stalin i am sure the whole of Europe would be a different place then it is today,i guess in a way we are lucky he invaded russia ,if not he probably would have tried England and who knows what would have happened

I'm reading about the Russian invasion now. It seems after the successful Blitzkrieg, the Wehrmacht were overconfident and underestimated the terrain, size, weather and time it would take to get to Moscow. Thanks for uploading - it's a fascinating video.

so true, hitler does not know how to fight a war. He was much better as a politician, wooing the people. He should've stayed as a celebrity and let his generals take care of the war. Rommel, Manstein, these military geniuses would definitely have owned the dumb Allies.

i'm not wishing that the world be nazified, but still hitler could've easily won the war. The entire German military back then is like the US military today. The Luftwaffe have the best aircraft and the most talented pilots. The Geman U-Boats terrorized the Atlantic Ocean. The Panzers, Tigers, Tank Destroyers, and even the troops themselves were way ahead of their time. Too bad Hitler squandered what he had. Also, Operation Sea Lion would still have been successful

@tshenvideos Your right on about everything but the strength of the German navy. It wasn't that powerful good U-boats but the British Navy and American Navy had become quite capable of destroying them and the German army didn't have a wealth of aircraft carriers. But on the other hand Germany was so strong Russia pushed for the Western Allies to open a western front because of their strength. Neither the Russians or the western allies could've conquered Germany alone.

@bored1980 The concept of Blitzkrieg was a term coined by the press not the German military. And the german military certainly didn't underestimate Russia's size. Soldiers on the front line knew it was doomed, in fact Hitler's advisers advised against the invasion. But the Austrian Corporal thought he knew better than the experienced prussian generals.. it was one man's folly - the flaw of any despotism.

Hitler Thought that Russia was ripe for the taking because the Russians were having trouble taking Finland, Good thing he made the mistake of breaking the treaty or WW2 might have had a different outcome

@FallschirmjagerUK the battles on the Ost Front were extremely fluid and fast moving. Artillery positions were rapidly moved, often several times a day. Apply the required barrage, eliminate the position with infantry and tanks, then move forward, or around as was more often the case. Large segments of this video are from Soviet propaganda films from or just after the war, and do not accurately portray the reality of what occurred. Try WW2GermanNewsreels the combat footage from here is spot on

i think that it is the 21 cm GRW39 and that the K17 is more like the SFHZ on the Hummel

@totalwarfreak1 The Hummel carred a 150mm sFH 18, but never a 170mm gun. The K18 was far more common, than the 210mm Morser 18, which used the same carrige. However, the one at 2:09 could well be an Mrs18. Both were huge guns and do look very similar, but I am certain the one at 0:51 is a K18.
