Only AoC is a real competition for WoW as it has better graphics and a more modern engine... but if the guys over at Blizzard decide to create a new engine for future expansions, then AoC is pretty badly screwed over too.

@treygon11 Even if it was a WoW knock-off, it'd still be fair as a lot of stuff from Warcraft was borrowed from Warhammer. And don't get the WH40K fans started on Starcraft. Doesn't matter if it's a knock off to me. What I ask is for it to work well whole as an an experience both story and game play. If someone does it first good for them. If someone comes along and does the same thing but even better, I'm gonna go with that.

As an ex-WoW player (I would still be playing but my computer committed suicide) I must say WAR has some positive aspects, most notably its graphics. However a game isn't only about graphics, if it were, Minecraft wouldn't be successful today. I think WoW has some kick-ass music and a great storyline and that's frankly more important to me than graphics... plus, graphics are getting improved in the next expansion.

I liked Warhammer when I played it in 2008, too bad it's dead as shit now and only has like 4 active servers. Might be worth coming back if the game actually had at least one populated server, but even with only four servers, they're all still ghost towns.

People still play it, but it's what most people would consider a sinking ship at this point. It's sad because it was a really fun game, I only quit because it lacked end game content, so I planned to come back about 6 months later only to find out the game was a ghost town.

But from looking at gameplay and character creation vids of lots of games (including LotRO, DaDO, WoW, Warhammer Online, Everquest, GW and Perfect World), it isn't a "war between wow and war", WoW is arguing It's quality over all these MMOs :P

Is this only because WoW has such a large player base? Possibly. But I think I've made a choice.
