If you are fishing with 200 other people this is just part of the game. Start assaulting people and you will miss the rest of the season while you're locked up.

Be a little smarter next time and try to work the fish out of the main hole and away from the other dudes... You stand there right in the sweet spot which would be fine if you were all alone but it looked like you had quite a bit of free water below. you. You going to fish a heavily fished river? Learn to adapt. Still sucks that the dude cut you off..

If you're gonna go fish that river during salmon season you had best expect that kind of outcome. The best around is to go find yourself a hike in area of the river to fish and chances are you will have the spot to yourself. Contrary to popular belief there are fish all throughout that river not just the spots near the roadside. Or go buy a boat and fish the Fraser.

My rod sitting in it's holder, and some douchebag comes and sets up beside me, snags my line cuts it without me even realizing what happened. << Then saw me looking for my line and says was that yours? I was so pissed because he took out about 3 1/4 of my spool. I just looked at him to say what do you think jack ass? A beach where we had all the room in the world. What an idiot!!!
This kind of thing is why we almost never fish the Chilliwack/Vedder anymore. I hear the Stave is getting to be just as bad...good thing there are still a lot of other great rivers these guys who think they "own" the river don't even bother trying.

I'm from cache creek and I fish the thompson for chinooks during the summers, and im thinking of going down there this summer and fall. I know its a crowded river, but does anyone know if there's good pools and good spots for salmon, that arent all that crowded? What I'm asking is are there good spots on that river that people either arent willing to walk to or go through all the trouble to get there?
If you're gonna fish the Vedder during salmon season then this is what you are going to get. You should know that going in and if you are the impatient sort you should just steer clear of this river altogether. I've fished this river for 26 years and it was bad when I first started but I was young so I put up with it. These days it literally is a gong show of unprecedented proportions. It can't even be called fishing anymore. What a shame, such a beautiful river gone to shit.

As an angler, I don't see how this could be fun in any way. The part I like most about fishing is the solitude. I know other people are different, but when there is that much pressure on one spot, I have a hard time imagining that I would enjoy myself.

It's not the end of the world, c'mon. It's more of the fish's fault than the guy's. When your fishing within 8 feet of someone else something like that is bound to happen. Combat fishing sucks.
He actually didn't speak much English and we knew that, thus the light hearted ribbing. If you watch close, you can see him walk right over Matt's line without warning him, against all river etiquette. He was so put out by it he asked us in very broken English to take a picture of the fish he was able to land. No harm done, all in fun. We were all asking for trouble fishing in that combat fishing meat hole anyway. The Springers were so stacked up in there we couldn't NOT catch fish.

If you do not know wat snagging is, it is the act of fishing usually with an oversized hook and no bait then ripping your line through the water as a fish passes so you can hook into its body. This is exceptionally painful to the fish and makes catch and release a pointless excercise. Besides that it is illegal as shit. Screw you old geyser
