It's not just you, it definitely has that PSX-era sound to it; but more than that, this particular theme was surprisingly dark compared to the rest of the music from the Classic series, feeling like something the X series would come up with. So it's only natural that this particular remix would sound like an X tune from the PSX era.

IMO 4 has the best music overall, whereas earlier games (especially 2) have a few solitary greats, if that makes sense. I mean everyone knows Wily's first theme from MM2, whereas Cossack's 2nd theme is criminally ignored, which is weird because it's easily the darkest theme in the entire classic series.

Personally I never even reached the Cossack stages because I found all the robots in 4 boring. Great music though, gives an incentive to finish them off and get to his stages.

You're kidding, right? I love this remix, from my point of view; this one is the best from Rockman 4, besides the Wily Stage 2 and Skull Man stage remixes. It also lets me forget that I played the game in 8 bit and felt like 32 (even if it's still a 8 bit game).

But even so, you're point of view is respected and still loved it before the remix soundtrack.

Love to see an old school fan from the original Rockman series.
