  • he must have been either on his way too or from a classic South east asia Blackshield route. Philippines are directly on that route.

  • There's a website that lists a diversion of an SR-71 into Clark on 27 Nov 1978, departing 29 Nov 1978. Not sure if this is it though. Maybe if someone knows the makes & models on those cars we can see if it jives with the date.

  • My parents worked at Clark for 1961st Communications Group from 1966 till 1991. Very nice base back in the days, I wish it was still open. I remember I used to climb up on the roof of our house in Angeles City to watch the US planes fly over.

  • what a nice base....hope they could put up new bases in the philippines because of the threat against china...it could overthrow the power of US militarily ,as what ive seen on the map one of the best strategic location is philippines in asia pacific.

  • @dawndarkangel true, placing a base in northern Luzon would be a perfect strategy location for defending Taiwan for possible invasion from China.

    away from volcano's of course.

  • I always see the model version in Lackland AFB :)

  • thats the one that made a sonic boom while i wasplying basketball at timog park

  • @Clubhouse729 i dont think so. if it was. it was way back in the day when it was still held by the US airforce

  • @Clubhouse729 Yes.

  • I was a dog handler at Clark 87-89. SR-71 made an emergency landing and we were told to go out and prevent pictures, some were pulling the film (remember film) out of peoples cameras. Obviously the Armed Forces Network didn't get the order. :)
