get some damn aileron into the crosswind for pete's sake! I've landed in heavier winds than that on a 50' wide strip. You've gotta be able to maintain centerline, you just must!
bhuuuu that was close! glad you survived! lucky you didn't hit the center-line..you'd probably bounced off again even harder! Thanks God nothing happened!
more right rudder when you flare...it's not an english road :) - don't forget slipstream and torque are still producing left turning tendencies during the roundout.
Anytime you are uneasy with a landing it's always a good call to go-around despite what a lot of people here are saying. You were off center and looked like you were struggling with the x-wind so it's better, IMHO, that you did go around. Most crashes during landings are caused by trying to salvage the landing.
A little rough, but every student pilot has at least one or two of these during training. The wheel struts are very strong, and they can withstand the repeated abuse of student pilots. Worst case scenario, this could have been an "excursion" into the grass or a fender bender...certainly not fatal.
@MrMalak2k6 If the airplane is what I think it is (e.g. Grumman AA-1 series) bounces could be fatal, as they could flip inverted if full power isn't immediately applied and go-around initiated.
lol you just bounced buddy. it can be a nice experience to your passengers 2 landings on 1 :) next time just add power so the second landing is smooth and btw never make such a dangerous go around procedure, if you are in the ground and you dont set your airplane for take off it can be very hard too make a safe take off. never take off whit out triming the airplane it could be really hard to pull up. Fly safe
my God your approach speedis so low..you can tell that by listening to the engines sound..same plane im using thats why i know..hey dude if you keep on doing that you'll crash soon at final.watch out for shears..
Just because there is a crosswind doesn't mean that you have to point the camera in to the wind. Turn the Aileron in to the wind not the camera, get your priority right.
@fcunderwood Dont predecate your decision off a video like this! HA!! Sad, this is probably only like 5% of pilots... Get a good instructor, and you'll be safe and have fun!
Where do you want to get your license? (Polite way of asking where you are going to fly?)
I just watched a student at my flight training facility bounce the plane, and wreck it its not funny! if you bounce even once you immediately increase power and go around!
@mayorkory You don't need to go around just because you bounced a bit (that's silly).. it depends on the circumstances, conditions, etc.. But this guy could've simply used better rudder control to keep aligned with centerline, and if he bounced (no biggie in this case) he could've just added a quick bit of power maintained a few feet off the rnwy, and then slowly retarded the power like experienced pilots all over the world do every day to include 737s and larger. He needs practice W/OUT PAX!
@likeawhispr I agree with you but im just going from what i know at the moment you must understand that. With more expierence maybe but at the time if i bounce i generally add power and if i dont have the room i go back up depends on the bounce i guess
@mayorkory You'll get a better understanding with time and I wish you well in your flight training! Just remember that what you learn in your training will only be a foundation, you fly the aircraft according to the conditions that exist at the time. You'll perhaps learn to retard the throttle to 1,700 rpm+carb ht+flaps, etc.. but that can all change depending on the wind, altitude of the airport, temperature, etc.. Nothing is written in stone so to speak :)
1. you drifted off the centerline... 2. you were too slow.. 3. you flared too early.. when you hit ground effect you should have pulled the power slightly..then as u sank back down add power, establish a neutral attitude then pull power and flare again..
Ummmmm who's video taping this!! That's probably why you 1. weren't on the center line and 2. you bouncing everywhere! Flying isn't something you just not pay attention to.

@CaptainMan117 FSX is terrible for really practicing flying because of the lack of tactile feel and feedback. It's great for learning instrument procedures though.
Could of died? LOL, the landing gear can take the bounce, as long as the mains touch first. You were fine, and he did the right thing, he did a go around. We all make mistakes
It was a touch and go, however it did not maintain power slowed down way too soon. Also could be crosswind situation. Next time try to maintain power. You're making the same mistake as I did landing on the numbers you have all longer runway in front of you.
I can't tell if there was a crosswind or the Mr Shakeycam just liked holding the camera sideways. Either way, if you didn't bend any metal then it's a good landing.
big whoop dee do. You could have died, Yeah Right!!! This is called porpoising and the only thing it can result in is damage to the airplane. You need to let the airpplne touch when it is ready, don't force it to the ground, and don't stall out too high. Don't overreact. Now if you hit the top of a tree coming in to a short grass strip, that is serious.
Did your instructor actually solo you? REALLY? Ever hear of a Full Stall Landing, and a Wheel Landing? The two are NOT the same. Make one or ther other. And do it on the centerline.
Those too icks at the top need to re-evaluate ... dont just say stay on the flight sim .... its all part of learning you divvy ... so the pilot made a mistake ... he wont next time will he ?
Any landing you can walk away from is a good one. If the plane gets to fly again it's a great one! you were waaay high and fast in the approach but you did a correct go around, what matters is that the video, the plane and the pilot eventually made it to YouTube :)
Personally, I wouldn't have put it down that far over the line. Practice makes perfect..., to a pilot, that bounce is nothing near death, your just not use to flying in a small plane. You want to see a bounce, watch my video reply...
@katanaguy100 if the engine died when the vid was started (which i didnt see how far before that he turned base who knows) he might not have made the runway, turning base at the tree line is where i turn (some say too short) but i like it
@katanaguy100 He says in the description that he was coming in for a landing, not a touch and go. Although I would tell people it was a touch and go to save face ;)
@k2500diesel The long final results in n00b flyers because they wait to the end of the runway to slow down to their decent speed and end up not turning base until they are a mile or more out. Judging the length of your runway and the size of your pattern will come with practice practice practice. He should have gone around before ever touching the ground. That pilot had a better view of his jacked up approach better than any viewer of this video. Good job on go around, should have been sooner.
It was a Touch and Go. You didn't almost Die. You broke YouTubes TOS by posting a misleading description to get views and you ended up getting raped on ratings.
Crosswind landing. You can see the windsock off the taxiway on the right. Add a bunch of trees around the airstrip makes alot of mechanical turbulence. Since I still have issues with these kinds of landings, I give the pilot props (no pun intended,) and add that the passenger is a wuss. Also, LOL at the plane on the taxiway facing the wrong way! "No way,I'm outta here!"
I would suggest you stay out of planes , trains, cars, roller coasters, roller skates, or anything that moves. Also, give your camera to someone who knows how to use it. Get a reality check. Stay home and watch oprah. I went up once with a few people and this fat chick started screaming, "take me down", "take me down". We had to land just for her and she ruined the whole experience for the rest of us. I believe you may be that very same person.
Okay, couple things here. It really isn't hard putting these things on the centerline, so disappointment to the pilot. Second off, any landing you can walk away from is a good one, and you were NOWHERE near dying. Dying would be the plane lost engine power at 1000' AGL. Then you can be worried, but EVEN THEN the plane still has a pretty decent chance at getting to a field or something.

What's what mean not serious pilot. He should go around instead risk every body lives. Just some thinking before landing- would I will make it or not?
But congratulation that he succeed to land safely:)

@virtualaircanada2458 Engine out at 1000AGL, no prob, just glide it down. Engine out and stall/spin; o ya, dead meat!

center lines are for people who aren't good enough to stay on one side of the road or the other.
