i'm 23 and i have this type of epilepsy. they diagnosed me 11 years ago, thankfully under control these days with medacation tho and i'm even able to drive (with annual doctor checks)
When I was young I had these types of seizures and my doctor pescribed me ethoseximide (not surespelling is correct) and it got rid of them. The drug has to be monitored by regular blood tests and occational night terrors and the sccational feeling like everything is going faster than it should be. were the side affects I experienced. the side effects were a very small price to pay to cure me of my seizures. I only took the medication for about a year and have been siezure free for 22 years now.
i was wondering did u get an eeg when u were diagnosed? i recently got one becuase of a seizure and they are still in the process of diagnosing me...please send me a message!
how do you know if an EEG isn't accurate? they still don't have clear results on mine yet. i think it's kinda lame that they don't test you right after the seizure..i had to wait two weeks
i have absence seizures aswell i hate it it makes me cry because why me if theres dumb crack heads in the world that are useless and i neer diid anything they should have not me !!!sometimes i just cry and think wen is all this goign to end!since grade eight my life changed!:(
Can you please help me end my homelessness and stop my seizures by having brain surgery and live as normal life as I always had before being struck with endless Grand Mal seizures for 10 years.
I've had these since I was about 8 and never outgrew them 38 years later. At times, I have none for months and then multiple times a day. I seem to have more at work and only while doing certain things. I seem to be most succeptable to get them in conversations. I also get tonic clonics. I've taken lamictal since 2001 and keppra for the past 3 years. The keppra works good for me, and has helped a great deal, but I have to occaisionally take klonopin. God Bless.
I have seen a seizure from petit mal in the hospital. It's like that from one moment to other you don't make anything. The patient was remembering something bad and then left the eyes in one middle position, with the tongue out. Then Diazepam were the cure.
i have absence epilepsy. its really weird. i dont know that i have them, not until im really confused about what is going on. its hardest in school, bcuz ill miss something important like homework or imformation about a test. feel free to ask any questions if u need to.
i had absense seizures from the ages of 2-14. i had regular ct scans and eegs, and took zarontin to treat them. i never had any learning problems and was active in gymnastics from ages 6-18. it is possible to lead a very normal life, it just has to be monitored. children usually grow out of them. im 27 now and have never had any problem since i got off my meds at age 14. best of luck.
ive been m r i 'ed c.t'd e.e.g'ed nbc cbs abc hbo tnt amc and most every other letter of the alphabet ...oh wait everything else after eeg is television networks..my bad
Yup, my son had them since he was 8 month old (up to 30 a day). he is on two experimental drugs (lamictal and trileptal) and he is down to maybe 6 a year. Unfortunately, he developed other types of seizures, but these occure maybe once a year. CT Scans, MRIs and EEG did not indicate any physical cause of seizures.
many other people have absences too.
