I like the concept of this video, but not the type of belt you used --- I suspect you pinched and/or poked your belly while fastening it.

There is a woven cloth belt (think seat belt design, but soft) with rings at one end, through which you can loop the other end, and tighten at any position (the same design is frequently used with knapsack straps). If you have such a belt, a remake of this video with it (which could be tightened more, comfortably) would be nice to see.

Use hot wax in your navel?

If you stick to paraffin wax it will be absolutely safe!!
