It's always been just "soul" to me, I'm a huge fan Bob Crewe and Charles Calello and owned nearly all the DynoVoice records (just missing two). My friend came over and was shocked to see that I had a bunch of Invitations and other odd Crewe related Northern Soul records. The track was from an East LA Record label, Linda Records, that specialized in many Chicano acts from the surrounding area. The kind of groups my parents used to go to watch weekly at the local Vet halls. Let's take a Trip Down Whittier BLVD....

How weird is this - don't know what to make of it all what with being one of the old skool mods 2nd generation - purple hearts, BTZ, The Same and The Jam and that whole Northern Soul/Mod SE England thing back in 1978 - 83. Looks intriuging though. Hope it comes to the UK I'll give it the once over. Still seems weird that it's still happening though for some reason?

We are organising a Soul Weekender in Sydney Australia for 7/8/9th September - Gonna Be A Big Thing - with an allnighter on the Saturday night at the Gaelic Theatre which has a large cinema screen behind the stage. How about screening it on the night. Got ex Wigan, Wheel, Torch, Mecca soulies from all over Australia coming for it. The 3 day event will feature best NS DJ's in the country. Which Photo are you referring to? All the flyers & photos are from events and places that myself or my friends actually experianced. I did NOT want to right-click any online flyers of places we've never been to, the only exception is the Cat's Alldayer as the patch just looks great. A couple of ladies allowed me to use their photos as they somewhat capture the spirit of it all ( ie Claire wrapped in the Union Jack). Thanks! Leonardo Flores

YBF takes place between 2004-06 in LA. Most of the exterior were shot in Antiques and Arts district on 2nd street in Downtown Pomona CA. The Cat and the Hat as well as an episode of X-Files were filmed there so your not too far away from your landed from Space comment. All the best Leonardo
