I love all the haters. They think they know it all... "my windows POS could already do everything the iPhone can 10 years ago!" while the iPhone slowly takes over the world. The haters have no vision. Just because you are content with crap doesn't mean everyone has to be :D
that's true. i think any competition between iPhone & Mobile 5&6 phones is unfound. i'm getting an iPhone this friday when they come out, but that doesn't mean i'm getting rid of my samsung for work. iPhone is good for entertainment and my samsung is good for work. it just boils down to the difference of what you want and what you need.
I think that what you are saying is that to be a leader, you need inspiration and motivation to produce the best product regardless of what other people are doing. Right on!
Competition is what drives our economy. Without it there is no incentive for companies to make better products, and lower prices, which makes things very bad for the consumer.
competition is all well and good and upto a certain extent healthy too. However if thats ALL that drives you, you will find your self lacking in charismatic and great ideas. As an artist i have often felt my best ideas are sometimes received from my competitor and i have felt inspired to add to it and make it better. Its NOT to bad mouth or push my competitor out of business. The market itself can do that. Excessive competitive tension often drives out the best and juiciest ideas.
Exactly; however if you have no original ideas yourself, and you would still want tobe in business, would have to compete and chase someone else out of his teritorry now would you. The fun part being; the more Microsoft tries, the more illusive and original Apple becomes. And they are the ones enjoying the ride.
Ever heard of a smart phone? Those have been out years before the iPhone. So in a sense, this would be Apple stepping into Microsoft's market, in much the same way Microsoft did with the Zune.
Hmm, well I work with Apple products, and you know something? The Iphone has a 1.8 inch HD for memory, guess what happens when you drop it? Oh did I mention, the screen is glass...Sounds good huh?
where did you get your facts from? It has flash memory so guess what that means. and its not glass its cubic zirconia which is the hardest thing besides a diamond so piss off and find better reasons to hate.
You guys are Jack Asses!!! Tell me one recent Successful Product from Microsoft???
MSFT is going no where just like you all. Mind as well donate that money MSFT because you don't have the talent or the know how to know what to do with it anyways...
with out competition company's have the right to never upgrade their products, seeing as they are the only one's and set the pace. Now with competition (unless your biased torward's a company) allows you to pick and choose which product either suits them best or has the best features. This allows the technology market to have new products and research and development constantly, Because they want you to buy their products. Not only cause of the brand but because its better than anything out.
PLEASE DON'T READ THIS you will die in seven days if you don't post this comment on 10 videos in the next hour. if you do, tomorrow will be the best day of your life
Dood, Balmer was asked a DIRECT question about MS's position VS Apple. He was stating the FACTS. Have you not seen the never ending Apple Mac VS "PC" (aka Windows) commercials? That kind of below the belt marketing is Apple's bag, not Microsoft's. I seriously can't believe you just said this.
#12.iPhone does NOT support instant messaging (ala AIM and MSN Messnger). What a friggin' joke!!! The more I read the more laughable this thing becomes.
#13. NO G3!!! G3 is a new data transfer paradigm that provides way more bandwidth than old cellular technologies while also providing virtually limitless ROAMING access. WIFI is much faster than G3, but requies a WIFI access point.
The battery is sealed, ala iPod. If it dies to the point where you can't recharge it, good luck trying to replace it.
And phones on the Vodafone network, particularly in Japan, have already done many things that Apple is touting with the iPhone. The interface on the iPhone may be better, but that's not the point: the iPhone is not technologically innovative.
I think they were lucky with the iPod and ought to stick with making good computers.
Depends on what way you look at it, good at business, maybe, good at buying innovations or pirating them yes very good, making good products, ah they fall over at that
Um.. "Ballmer, whoever he is?" Really? If you don't even know who Steve Ballmer is why are you posting this. Also, I agree with RespectablyFrench, we need competition, without it we would advance at a snail's pace.
As far as the iPhone is concerned -- I feel it will be somewhat similar to Communism in that it works on paper and is a brilliant idea, but when you try to put it into action it just doesn't work.
You make alot of Good Points about what your saying, but what I feel you fail to realize is that stiff competition can drive a business "Out of Business" so regardless of What Steve jobs says Every Company "COMPETES" on one level or another to Survive and to Keep their Investors.
You seem to be saying that money can't be a motivating factor for great things, which seems naive or puritanical to me. Apple may seem to put making great products over gaining market share, but why do you think they charge so much for those products? Because they can. Jobs has basically acknowledged the primary motivation for the iPhone was to stay dominant in portable music players. All inspiration flowed from that.
This is true. what other thing where they going to make that's hand held I mean where do you go when you go from Ipod to video Ipod to Iphone? it all sounds like a game of jenga with our money and I don't like to lose.
i dont think it was the primary thrust....or the initial spark that lit the fire....money is definetely part of the equation dont get me wrong but the original idea was inspired as all great inventions always are
Apple does a very good job os making macusers feel as they has a HUGE part in the products created.
Thus if you criticize an Apple product you directly assault the Macuser.
As for PC users, we know we are users, we constantly complain for more. We dont associate, we simply go after things that work and leave things that dont.
PC users dont make excuses for lack of utility that Macusers seem to be zealots for.
No pretty basic information from what Steve Jobs reviewed, what apple offers, and only a bit of research on the ringtone bit.
Kinda important stuff that's missing, if only mac followers would ask for more rather then accept whats given.
I just want them to ask these questions before claiming its the best thing ever. The one market that Apple succeeds at are the people that want an ipod and phone in 1 but that's gonna cost them.
As is Apple can't re-release another iPhone with all of that. You fail to realize that when the iPhone catches on there will be 3rd party addons, replaceable batteries, additional memory addons, web radio, etc.

What a rapidly expanding vocabulary! Do you eat with bare hands or has the concept of using utensils come within reach? To your credit, your vocabulary has amassed to a whole 7 words! 7 out of 13. I see, its like a baby learning its first words, repeating the same ones with gestures to attempt meaning. I will translate: When blackeneseboy says F*ck, it means he has soiled his pants again. When he uses this with Apple, it means the Apple sauce he ingested is now in his pants ripening.

Look at the cover of fortune magazine...google and utube #1 companies

Reasons to not buy iPhone:
#1.Locked to expensive Cingular provider
#2.Expensive (5x that of a win. mob. Moto Q. 2x+ that of Palm Treo)
#3.Non-expandable memory
#4."virtual" keyboard only
ogodefacto 4 years ago
#5.2MP (only!) camera (yes most "smartphones" are no better but this is a $500-$600 device)
#6."Closed" propietary system
#7.Same access/copyright protection schemes Apple ALWAYS imposes
#8.Same MP4 video instead of standard DIVX/XVID
#9.Does NOT run MS Office or equiv.
#10. No video conferencing. Even new cell phones offer this now (with a BETTER cam).
ogodefacto 4 years ago
#11. No VOIP support (goodbye skyype)

iPhone lacks:
1000s of 3rd party addins
Replaceable battery
Additional memory addins
No syncing with MS Exchange servers making it no use to business users.
You will need to BUY additional ringtones and not play any WAV file you want. - READ UP ON IT
Lacks ability to play additional formats such as DivX
Will NEVER have a P2P program for it.
Touchpad keyboards WERE TRIED and tactile keyboards came back because of demand. ipod will never be a 1 handed txt device yet alone 2.
