I saw them live in 1986 and I couldn't hear a thing for 5 days. All due to Rob. One of the most amazing concerts I've ever seen, even to this date. Seeing them again on Nov 20th!
Saw Priest and Whitesnake live yesterday! They were kicking asses! And now I know which show was the best show of my life! This song was fucking awesome!
@salottin I remember seeing Priest with Whitesnake back in '09 on the British Steel. Amazing show, even made eye contact with the Metal God haha. Can't wait to see em as third time, this will be an epic show
Saw Priest live last week, they played this song and it was unbelievable! And by the way, Richie Faulkner was awesome, he nailed every song they played perfectly.
@jlgrey, I wouldn't call it lame. It's just that this song doesn't go well with the rest of the songs from the original "Unleashed in The East" album. Around 2:10 the song doesn't sound that good but then it picks up the tempo and it finishes very strong. I guess that for those of us who owned (or listened to) this album from way back in 1979 need to hear the song a few times in order to get into it.
I had the original "Unleashed in the East" and this song was NOT on it. Bought the CD later in life, and this song is NOT on it...
Maybe because it's not that great, unlike the rest of the album which kicks some serious ars, and is probably the best live album ever, in my opinion...
@ScottyWheels Not that great? Come on man! The song is tight, great guitar solo, great drum solo and rob doing his thing with the high pitched breaker etc. Damn man damn. I think it's a brilliant performance of a brilliant song :D
This was a bonus track recorded from the same two nights....just unreleased. Its was released on the remasters. In fact look at all the early remasters of the early albums...all of them have these bonus tracks.
Sorry, if this sounds weird. But, because of Rob Halford (My Favorite Singer), I can admit to the world that I am a bisexual person. I thank him, because he is gay and it took a lot of guts for him to admit that. And the same thing for me. Also, great video.
@TheCannibalViking666 dude us real lifer metalfreaks dont care about that at all ---live and let live --metal is for the elite ---you belong no matter your sexual preference ---ftw!!!!!!
this album, imagine that an actual album, was my intro to the priest all so many years ago...god those where the days!!! n this was the "fist pounding" music that flamed my heels
@useemusic1 - You have an earlier pressing of the album then. The new 'remaster series' cd version has this song as well as others such as Rock Forever, Hell Bent Forever and Delivering The Goods which were only originally on the japanese pressing. The new remaster pressing as I've said contains these songs.
First time hearing this and I was a JP fan from late 70's! Thanks for the post, JP smokes with KK and Glen as usual and Halford raising the roof with his vocals. I saw them twice (Point of Entry and Screaming for Vengeance tours) in cocert. Once Iron Maiden opened for them but JP spanked their balls off! THIS IS 100% GRADE A HEAVY METAL!
Thanks for the response,headbanger6661990,I purchased this albulm in 1980...and I'd like to think that Starbreaker may have featured elsewhere, in Europe maybe?... in Thunder Bay,Ontario it was edited!... yep I'm an old fan!
They didn't touch up the original release of Unleashed in the East, did they? The copy I have from many years ago doesn't seem to have any studio tendencies to it. It is pure live Priest!
It should be noted that the rumors of Judas Priest touching up Unleashed In the East (at least to any really noticeable extent) is mere speculation that isn't backed up by any facts.
(This is my 2nd attempt to make a reply, not sure why my 1st didn't work?)
I read somewhere that the band felt Binks was too technical and wanted him to play a more simpler drumming style for the 1980s and he refused to be dumbed-down so they let him go.
I was very disappointed to find out they touched up this live album up in the studio. Kiss did the same thing. Not very metal of them. Still though, I listen to this LP constantly. Oh, and on a side not, I was sitting at a red light, and this beautiful blond, who looked prim and proper, pulled up next to me in a Benz convertible. She was alone and absolutely blasting Victim of Changes off this record on her car stereo. My jaw dropped into my lap. 20 years later, I still remember this goddess.
Awesome drum solo from Les Binks there! He will always be one of my favorite drummers, I wish he woulduve stayed instead of Dave Holland replacing him, I also wish Priest woulduve continued making albums like "Sin After Sin" and "Stained Class" rather then pursuing a more basic sound in the 80's.
Well that's actually exactly why Les Binks left in the first place. The sound just grew too "commercial" for him, even with "Killing Machine"/"Hell Bent". Now, though, they've got Scott Travis and he's just amazing. The problem is that they don't use him properly; his drumming on "Painkiller" and "Jugulator" was incredible but since then they might as well have used a drum machine.
i should have figured that,my bad.i knew it,i try to get imports all the time if i can.got a ac/dc album not sure the name but it's an import and has a extra song"crabsody blues"i think is the song name.you're right nothing like the vinyl.thanks
i dont believe that it was on this album.listened to it for years and i dont remember hearing it on there.what is this a bonus track or something?it's just not on my album and it's original, bought by me so?
right, he could nail this song very well then, but he usually fucked some places. For example the "growing" scream near the end. He have always had a "hole" in the mid-high register and in the real bootlegs you can hear that he made this scream grow very irregularly(which was corrected in UitE).
@worcesterwombat yeah, i think its a customised octivider..wish i had one too! No taking away from the guy, you have to know what you are doing with it.
