ok i have macbook pro 15 inch late 2011.... is it worth it buying a 64 gb ssd and putting a dual ssd and use it for regular use, and my hdd to be my user use (music, videos, files, apps etc??
I am a little bit confused...When you buy a macbook pro and then you an ssd you must put the ssd inside the computer and throw the HDD ...?So ...what about the files after that ?...Answer plz...
Finally a review that tests the real world performance. I'm not interesting in boot or shutdown times as those are irrelevant for my day to day work. Thanks for this video mate!
Hello again, i was wondering if you had any Experience with OWC Mercury Extreme Pro SSD and/or OCZ Technology 120 GB Vertex 2 Series and how they all stack up against each other (including the X25-M)
Hey, i want to get a X25-M G2 80GB SSD for my macbook pro, I was wondering, is anything needed to replace the current hard drive, or does it fit right into place without anything else needed? just asking to make sure.
There is nothing extra needed. The G2 is a standard 2.5" size. You will just pop the old drive out and the new one in. Removing and replacing the necessary screws of course.
alright thanks! just wanted to make sure. i currently have a 7200RPM 250GB, but i only use like 40 gigs up (including the OS and all my files) i have an external hard drive that has time machine (1.5TB) so i could live on a 80 Gig, the performance looks sweet, the extra battery life, durability, and less heat than a HDD would rock!!
oh completely forgot, since i replaced the hard drive, would i would have to install snow leopard again right? but as long as i have the CD i just pop it in right?
You could do it that way. Or if you have an external enclosure for your old drive you could do a system migration. It's convenient if you want to keep your files, apps etc.
Most benchmarks continue to rank this particular drive as the fastest available. This means faster boot ups, application launches etc. This drive also has better performance over time. The controller is more sophisticated and better at managing a drive using near its capacity. The stock Apple SSDs use inferior controllers.
okey, how about the Crucial RealSSD C300? ... And doesn't it void the warranty to open the macbook pro? (i'm thinking of doing it, but not quite sure yet)
Damn from 500GB hard drive to 80GB SSD, nice! It is indeed worth the switch. I never even thought of opening many aps at once but I wouldn't do it because I'm using a 250GB 5400 RPM hard drive so that's a huge no no, lol!
are you the guy from unboxtherapy?!?!?!?!?!?!

Can you make a video of how Photoshop opens? Is it like 5 seconds or less?

Just wondering, are you recording using your isight camera? or a seperate camera?

The video in the corner is being recorded via the iSight. The rest of the video is recorded using the screen capture software Screenflow.

It fits right into place with no additional hardware needed.

What is the advantage of this particular SSD drive, compared to the one offered by the Apple configurations ?

For me it was a reasonable trade off. I never use my optical drive anyways. Maybe once a year.

so what happens when the only way u can install something is by using a Disc then ????????????

You can get an external USB enclosure on eBay for $25. Besides, what software can't you get off the company website now a days anyway?
itsoutty 2 years ago
