Hi, Its been a while since anyone commented on this video, but i could really use some improv advice, honestly, forget he haters, share what you know, if you know something it doesnt matter wether you say it or wether kenny g says it, just say it
all good mate. very smooth. could go outside a little more- kick off some triads from the 9ths/11ths and pop through some more changes/substitutes. I'd be happy in a club with this!
i need to get a tenor.... so much better then alto... but right now im stuck with my crappy yamaha student model..... hopefully i'll get a job and get a cheap one.... anyway great playing.. if u wudn't mind checking my channel out tht wud be greatly appreciated
i have been watching you play for ages I really love your tone would love to know full set up sax reed and mouth peices preferred your a great player ignore any idiots !!
Improvising is playing your soul (for me), there are only people that are more experienced and that's all, i guess you can call them pro's. Let no one put you down! Play and let your soul sing!
Whoever criticized you is a dafty. I loved it. Mellow pure notes and the improvisation fitted in perfectly. I'm learning it on a Soprano Sax starting 3rd octave B and I can't get pure notes yet. My sax teacher has me jamming with it and it's great fun. The whole point of music is to enjoy what you play.
Hey crazydoo, that's nice ! May I ask, what is the make/model# of the microphone ? I just bought a mic that looks very similar, I am curious if it is the same one. The fidelity on your's sounds good. Thanks ! And keep on posting videos like these !
great vid, who would of thought improvising could be so hard. you should have kept the comments i would have enjoyed them forget what idiots with too much time on their hands have to say
dude, this is a perfect solo, simple something that the listeners can relate to....i absolutely love it....you have given me so many good ideas.....i may have to steal a lick or two, but everyone will know where i got em from....keep up the good work and you have a wicked tone aswell.......
I hate it when haters who are musically challenged, or are jealous, or suck beat down on people who spend their lives refining their craft over the years. I hate it.
great tone! very smooth. I'm still trying to find the right accessories for me as far as mouthpeice, reeds, lagatures and all that. I tried quite a few jazz mouthpeices but no winners :( looks like i'm stuck with my C* for the time being.... meh....
Hi Levoninthbox. I do state the melody, very often, but this is jazz my friend. You may be better off looking for a vocal version if you want the "original" melody. It gets pretty old very quickly on sax, and in this style. Check out my version on alto, perhaps easier to get to grips with.
I Just Started playing the alto Saxophone i hope i can play as good as you some day! I'm Gonna send this to my freind cause she play the Alto Sax too!
Thank you very much. I am honoured that you want to play along. I don't know much theory, I am an ear player, so you might have found an interesting experience....

Matthew, please DO put the annotations back... It's been a great help for myself and others. The world's full of idiots and you know surely, that the best way to deal with them is to ignore them...
I'll 2nd that. There are a ton of twats on Youtube who appear to be vieing for the gringe of Xmas award. Ignore them and pity their sad lives. I find your tips and hints very helpfull. You explain things in a way that I can relate to.

I have now got the ability to improvise on flute, and have gained mor'n an ocatave over the trumpet, which has set me free to follow your inspirational solos - as well as possible. you definitely have talent. i am no expert but i lived in nyc for twenty. i used to go to sweet basil and the blue note ALOT. you could hold your own at either place. long ago i even went to one show with a couple of guys who played with billie holiday. i love jazz !

you definitely have talent. i am no expert but i lived in nyc for twenty. i used to go to sweet basil and the blue note ALOT. you could hold your own at either place. long ago i even went to one show with a couple of guys who played with billie holiday. i love jazz !
