  • They should air this agian, even with the old car it would work well for them.

  • The best advert ever, i was only about 8 when it was being aired, can remember it like it was yesterday.

  • The guy driving the car looks a lot like a young Tom Hanks

  • The only upload I can find on Youtube that is complete 3m long. Cheers. Who remembers the extra publicity Peugeot got over the "gay-kiss-of-life" controversy?

  • This is my favourite ever advert. I was in my teens when it was first shown. Wish they would reuse it for whatever their latest model is.

  • I've been waiting for 1 minute 57 seconds since I was 9 years old! Please forward on my details.

  • one of THE best adverts of the 90's

  • I wonder how much M people got for Peugeot using one of there songs? :D

  • I wonder if the girl in red is inspired by Schindler's List which was released just a few years earlier.

  • I have a GOLD color 406 '98. It is a 2.1 Turbo Diesel Manual, and I can tell you this: COMFORT? 10 OUT OF 10; POWER? Accelerates up a 25% incline hill in 3rd gear with 5 people in the car, HAS HEAPS OF TORQUE; FUEL ECONOMY? 6-8Liters/100km, depends on where and how you use it. It already has 310,000kms in it and it just keeps going. The build quality of this car and the parts quality is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Probably one of the best car tv ads ever made. :-)

  • ive got a 2.0 turbo 1 executive very nice and comfy very good car its my second 1 both been blue 1 had cream leather this 1 has got black leather

  • Best advert ever, no doubt in my mind AND I don't even like cars (at all)!

  • I am, still looking !

  • my wife fell in love with this guy in the video how sad still the car is nice lol

  • Such an amazing spiritual song, this advert could not of been made any better, it's about 'surviving the journey not the destination'......................................

  • probably the best advert ever broadcast

  • Possibly the best advert there ever was, is, or ever will be.

  • @robk23oxf

I was reminded of this ad tonight and I agree with you 100% - stunning ad and my second fave of all time

  • I worked at the launch party for this advert (Mezzo) when the girl in the restaurant kisses the guy the guests, many famous faces Kylie, Chris Evans etc when crazy. Great atmosphere, great night, great advert!

  • Remember this breifly, very good advert

  • the part giving mouth to mouth was cut out of the vid what is the world coming to world peace

  • that seems alot longer than the original advert!! But still its an awesome show of creativity which sadly is lacking in todays commercial production

  • awesome tv sd , amazing images put to music

  • Nice advert. Thanks for posting.

Any one prepared to venture what the actual cars are like? Always wanted one but never actually bought one.

  • @ffmarkm

i never wanted a peugeot but i come across a 406 for good money not a lot of miles either had it 3 years its been a fantastic car keep thinking about buying a new one as its 9 years old but i think why bother when its so good

  • @ffmarkm I am not a car fan, prefer trucks, but a friend offered me a diesel 406 last year for few pounds,as it was diesel, I took it.Turned out to be the best thing I have ever done, the car is a 1999 model, clean, comfortable, 2 litre diesel pulls like a train, and I get 550 miles per tank of diesel.

Flew through its MOT, trust me, you will love a 406 if you buy one.

  • @DSVOP i know how you feel. i got this car from my dad, 12 year old car and still drives like new..although mine is not diesel :p 200 miles per tank

  • world peace let all be as one in life happy we all get one go at life peace to you all x

  • Holy crap! The new father at 0:39 looks so much like an adult Harry Potter!

  • class advert class song brough out in 1997 and 1999 bring it back out

  • good advert but shit car!!

  • I was born in 1993, and I must say this is the only advert I remember from this time. Epic commercail!

  • possibly one of the best adverts ever, great music, great visuals, alot of meaning, brings back some memories

  • Brilliant!!! Just bought one of these cars last week! Awesome ad, exquisite stuff, now I can stand tall among the V8 driving gutter trash.

  • Adverts used to mean something... Nower days, you see a teen pull up in his crappy cheap made car and sees his dad at a gay club and invites him into the car with the line "flow with the times dad!"

    Fucking sick...

  • lovethisadvert, remember it like it was yesterday... i was 7 or so when it come out, I remember us all glued to the telly when it come on so moving...

  • one of the best car adds

  • old but still moves me :'-)

  • Possibly the longest advert on British tv. Remember it well.

  • Some of the best imagery ever on a advert

  • this is so uplifting tune and the best car add ever

  • I used to dance to this when i was 6 lol.

    Epic advert(Y)

  • love this tune old tunes never die

  • In my humble opinion, the 405 is a far superior vehicle to the 406...just a shame they didn't give it any more gutsy engines like a V6 or a bigger diesel.

  • Remember the first time I saw this when I must have been 13, it took up the whole advert break, no other adverts were played! One of the best adverts ever IMO, and the 406 V6 i used to have was the best car I've owned, was even built pretty solidly, thirsty though...

  • Best Advert Ever!

  • what about reliance,I want to buy a used one, is it a reliable car?

  • I can remember this ad from when i was 3. I can remember it used to be on tv all the time, hard to think 14 years have passed so quick!

  • A beautiful car the 406 was, sadly replaced by the 407. I always regarded the 406 as the last great Peugeot.

  • I tottaly agree with you the 306 and the 406 were the nicest Peugeots ever made. The series 06 design it's timeles, also the interier of the car gives cozy and comfortable feeling to the passengers. I wish there would still product both models. I also prefer the front part of the first serie of Peugeot 406. The 406 serie 2front part wasn't so elegant, the lights and the whole front mask of the car were far more nicer in 406 serie 1.

  • Not sure how much I would agree to the comfortable feeling seats (that goes for all French cars of the era). But otherwise, yes, the 106, 306 and 406 were all nice cars. The 206, to be honest, looked a lot better than it actually was. My mum had a 206, and it wasn't that good a car at all. The 307 and 308 (I've driven both) are CRAP! The 407 I thought looked good, but I know it also nothing special in every other respect. The new 207 is also nothing special.

  • remember going to the local Peugeot Dealer for the launch of the 406, they played the full advert, everyone one stunned into silence, magical ad!

  • Should have cost much more than that

  • my dad (who created and driected this) said that it cost £40,000 for this 3 minute 10 oclock news ad slot.

  • If your dad created this and directed it, then he is a genius because this advert made the peugeot 406 a legend. I take my hat off for the creativity and art that went into it and the message was really clear to me- there is no such thing as an average person, so why buy an average car like the 3 series or mondeo. But the best thing about the advert, was that it like watching an excellent film with a great storyline, excellent action shots, acting and music compressed into a 3 minute ad slot.

  • You should give my compliments to your dad. This commercial is nice, has it's meaning and is estetic made with a lot of taste as this beautiful Peugeot 406 itself.

  • Oh hell yeah. I remember this ad like it was on TV yesterday. I don't think I'd ever want another car, my 406 is 11 years old and is sooo smooth to drive *wuv*

  • Song: Search for the Hero

    Artist: M-People

    Singer: Heather Small

  • Can someone please tell me the title and the singer of song in this advert?

  • Fantastic this advert brings back some happy times for me THANKS A LOT

  • love this tune so up lifting

  • so up lifting tune make me happy love the add to

  • Thanks for letting know about the ad Nigel mate, it really makes good use of the song....Ta !

  • thank my old man for this...

  • Best auto advert ever.still have my 406,12 years old and as good as new

  • yes 4 a car and a good one and a good song to ful stop mate

  • love this song good old tv add not like the tv add of 2 day

  • Our mate has one of these, he ain't looked funny at any little girls, yet.

  • YOU WISH YOU COULD HAVE ONE OF THIS!

  • wot a tune brings back some happy times 4 me

  • man this advert really is a classic...

  • this trak is by that black women i forgot her name, hmmmm ill find out n get the original trak ok

  • i already know it, its by 'M people - Search for the Hero'

  • I'm gonna go on autotrader and bag me a 406 now!

  • make sure you get the coupe version - its awesome.

  • My life's not like this, especially not with the beautiful woman in the restaurant. But isn't that the point of art?: not to show the world as it is or how it should be, but how it appears to us in dreams.

  • i dont get what this commerical has got to do with the POS 406

  • average person = an average car. jeez....

one of the best car adverts ever made, full stop.

  • 1.24 , what is tht sucidal girl doing . fuckin stupid bitch

  • The artistry, filmaking and strength of message is just simply brilliant, you don't see any adverts like this anymore.

  • a wonderful advert.

  • a lot of people say some guiness adverts are the best (and they are good) but this one is clearly the best in my view - although what it has to do with a 406 I don't know but i certainly enjoyed watching it.

  • Probably the longest ad on British tv. I had never seen the full version before. The song suits the video. Thanks for posting.

  • The most provocative commercial ever made. Not bad cars either.

  • did you now this was band from tv because of the mam giving mouth 2 mouth wot is the world coming 2 love this tune xx

  • blood hell. maybe coz of nudity, but mouth-to-mouth is how to save a life; how else are people gonna learn to be brave when resusitating a drowned person?

  • Watch peugeot 406 advert with True Colours on my channel

    watch?v=GJ0GO07YXY8

  • why don't they make adverts like this anymore ?? Cheers for uploading it!!

  • I am doing a PhD in Government and showed my seniors last week this ad on a way to present the Irish Aid Fund for over seas development to the taxpayer but the old academics and Civil Services did not get the idea. I was so disappointed they did not accept the concept it would have made a great government ad , was I wrong

  • This advert brings back memories :)

  • Anyone know where I can watch the old Peugeot 406 ad (from late 90's) with the song true colours in it, at the beginning you see a little boy swimming between a girl and a shark, then I think (it's been awhile), there's a heavily tattooed man with a kitten, a business man giving his shoes to a tramp and then, at the end, a fully grown man, with a shark bite in his side walking up to kiss a woman on a pier.

  • I watched that as a young man, really touching advert, specially since its an advert for a car. Ive searched everywhere on the net for this video but i cant find it anywhere. =/

  • I have one ;)

  • I want that car, even after 12 years.

Worst is, I had it but sold it 3 years ago. Because it was first registered on 29 February, its about to have its fourth birthday.

  • Absolutely superb advert.

I remember the first time I saw it which I believe was its first airing on UK tv, on ITV after the 10 o'clock news. It brought a chill to my spine and I was unable to look away from the telly (even tho' I was too young to drive in those days).

Current advertising execs should look at this ad for tips for today although selling Peugeots would be easy if they made cars like the 406 and 306 still, not the current rubbish!

  • You are right. I dont like the new design of the Peugeots 407 or 308. Especially I don't like the front part of the car. The lights are to big and to vertical, almost til glass. And front part is somekind od desolate. Because between lightt there is only mark of the car, there are no grill. You will know what I mean if you compare 406 and 407.

Peugeot 406 phase1 was nice car and also 306 has very nice and classic shape. I rather buy older peugeot like this new cars with too big front part.

  • i agree, i think the massive front grill look that peugeot have gone for lately will look quite dated in only a few years.

  • I agree, I either don't like the new design of the series (407 and also other models I don't like) too big front parts of the car and with too vertical lights that are already near glasses. There is no grill in front only the mark. of the Peugeot. The older Peugeots like 306 or 406 were much nicer.

  • A outstanding piece of television advertising history. Truly worth preserving and making the ethos of heroism one we all aspire to.

The world would be a better place. Still, it's good to see this sort of art valued, not just for itself, but for the message it gives society.

  • this should be nominated for one of the best tv adverts ever created since the invention of television!

  • Awesome ad. Heather Small's voice and great filmwork are inspiring.

  • anyone know the driver's name, recognise him from tv.. and can anyone tell me how to get this video, need it to remind myself of what the word 'quality' meant in television adverts..

  • great ad remember it forgot it was for 406 which I own one of the newer shape ones but I think mine broken as I dont get these thoughts when i driving it all I get it the feeling of what does the mpg say on clock now and constantly look at it fantastic car HDi anyday

  • Awesome advert, one of the best ever IMHO.

  • god i remmeber this from when i was a kid, top advert!!!

  • ah, when peugeot still knew how to make an attractive car

and good adverts for that matter

  • My God that was 12 years ago? the "new" 406 back then, and now I look at mine, 180k miles, knocky droplinks, still my reliable baby tho!!!

  • I remember this advert, loved it so much and i allways wanted to know the song, i wasent into music back then. Fantastic advert

  • ditto, i loved it to death too and always wanted a 406...even though i have a 405 now lol

  • M people - Search for the Hero

  • I'm still trying to find that Peugeot 406 advert when a man gets a shark bite on his side.

  • any luck with that? (the shark bite advert). I have been looking for it for ages!

  • 2:10-2:20 is the best part, unbelieveble!

  • I was working at the London ad agency Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper at the time they made this ad - this was truly the pinnacle of achievement at the time (even now!) and a testament to the creative genius behind it - Mark Wnek. Wnek was also behind Pure Genius, Heineken refreshes the parts...

A number of soundtracks were considered including one classical - they chose right on the mark with M People.

  • what a brilliant advert and video

  • This is the best car advert ever. The song from M people is amazing, the car is amazing and the advert is amazing. I found myself to watch this advert nearly every day.

  • That was a first pretty Peugeot, and i've been huge Peugeot fan after 1996 when 406 came out. 406 is very modern looking car, it looks like 2000 century car, and i'm getting my first car/406 in october.

  • i luv dis difinatly in my favs

  • have you got angle street i can not get it on you tube i love that tune thank you

  • Thanks for posting this. Reminds me of the 90's and my childhood so much. It's the best Advert that I've ever seen.

  • love this advert it was the best 1 on tv at the time

my mum used to fancy 406 driver

  • me too.

  • I wouldn't call the car ugly. Underneath it wasn't up to much though.

  • this has to be one of the cheesiest ads ever....granted a great tune and some sublime beautiful imagery but its basically trying to hide the truth- that this is in fact an ugly car.

  • the outside of the car is neat i think, but the interoir is tacky, i grant you that.

  • if you think its pointless, why the fuck are you watching it!!??

  • Comment removed

  • great advert! I need to find the 'true colours ad' of the 406 2000 campaign. Nowhere to be found! Youtube sucks!

  • fantastic advert. Has anyone seen the 406 advert with the 2 kids swimming & there's a shark attack !? (...it plays True Colours in the backround) PLEASE reply & tell me where I can watch it again ! :o)

  • I remember that advert - it was good even though I was young. Cheers for uploading this, I've been looking for this for a whil

  • Comment removed

  • me too. ive nevr seen the full version! thank you soooo much BASEBOY87. the song was excelent and the scenes; uplifting! checkout my 605 promo video coiming soon.

  • What a brilliant song! This must be the best song that m people has done yet. Someone turn it up.

  • Most pointless car ad I've seen in my life! How does owning a Pug relate to any of the stuff they showed in the commercial?

  • A bit long, but good :) Great car though..

  • What a truly phenomenal advert - Peugeot is king of car commercials!!
