It truly is the best. Edge's riff sounds perfect, better than ever. And the "Dirty water" part at the end sounds better than both "Vertigo" and "Native son" choruses put together.

Of course there'll be a tour in 2009 - the new album is out in November this year and they are already working on the set design for the next tour!

The woman who assisted in producing U23D (sorry, can't remember her name) has been involved in designing all of U2s live shows since ZooTv - She recently said in an interview that the band is back in the studio recording the next album and they're working on themes for set designs etc. Who knows whether it will be in stadiums or areans. My guess would be it will be similar to last tour. Arenas in most of USA and Europe - stadiums in Sth America, NZ and Australia. Can't wait :)

Well if the new album ends up being as Bono's alluding to - i.e. dancey, trance and metal influence (Achtung Baby on steroids) - it's likely America won't like it - the States tended to shun U2 in the experimentally 90s, I suspect the same will occur. I don't think U2 would make the same mistake twice in going straight into stadiums unsure whether the material will be well received. Time will tell. I can't wait to hear their new stuff!

yep - I've seen U2 in Sydney on Zooropa, PopMart and Vertigo Tours - all were very good - i have to say though, I think the Vertigo Tour in the Olympic Stadium was pretty special.

IMO... I think that "best version ever" is kinda relative...

for example, if you're looking for the best BAND performance of this song... try October 10th from the Madison Square Garden... the band plays it with a lot of 'anger' and 'passion'... i mean, it rocks!

For instance, if you're looking for the version with more feeling and excitement for the crowd... try March 2nd 2006 from Buenos Aires... the crowd's really amazing in this one, but Bono's voice seems a lil' tired...

I'm not 100% sure but I don't hear any Creedence in there. There are a couple mentions of "Dirty Water" which is a song by the Standells about Boston. That "take me to the river" is the from an Al Green song of the same name. Maybe you were thinking of Creedence's "Down By the River".
