yea i agree this show is so special. I was a kid watching this and now im a senior at Howard. Howard reminds me of Hillman everyday! So many positive images of black people in this show! What happened? Where is the Cosby Show, Fresh Prince, Family Matters, Soul Train etc.?? Shows that really portray black culture??
i love this show i remember watching this with my sister god rest her soul.. it is a different world cuse of this show i went to college. DAMN NBC for canceling this show i wonder do the acters know how much of a impact they made on the kids coming up in the late 80's early 90's and even now i hope they do ...can we get a ADW reunion going .
I agree with all the comments. I remember watching when I was young. It is ironic watching this AGAIN as a senior at an historically black college/university. It holds a special place in my heart because it represents the good of HBCU's and their true potential. This show addressed so many issues. The kids, now, more than ever need television like this to address the issues of today...
I think I like the this version better than the others. man I miss this show. and I won't hit twenty till March 18. Wonder why Nick@Nite stop playing this.
i loved both ADW and CS but i luv'd this show more b/c the writer's after the first season which is when it took off were'nt afraid to push the envelope this show was one of the 1st american tv shows to addres HIV/ AIDS...episodes about daterape and domestic violence but of course bought the comedy MY FAV SITCOM I wish they would hurry up and put the rest of the seasons on DVD cause personally in my opinion compared to the others season 1 sucked...DWAYNE!!! (whitley's voice) lol
I loved this show! It made me want to go to college (which I did and finished). Too bad we don't have anymore shows like this show and the sows from the 90's and 80's. I'm glad I was born when I was because the kids today tv shows are horrible.
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that since The Cosby Show and A Different World got cancelled in '92 and '93 respectively, that the only black sitcoms are on cable and no black dramas. They can put on crap like My Name is Earl but not give another black sitcom or comedy/drama a shot like Cosby or ADW another shot?
Yeah special ed, I refer them as sitcoms in my post. Maybe if you knew how to read, you would have gotten the real point by now. Don't tell me stuff that I already know. If you got a point make it. If not, keep it moving.
They were sitcoms... Like the fresh prince they threw in real life factors and had they're serious moments. Dramas is the shit you watch on day time tv...special ed...ROFL
No shit stupid ass. I said they were sitcoms in my post. Being that you can't read and are mired in special ed, you keep sending me stupid ass posts telling me something that I already know. Get your retarded behind out of here.
While you at special ed, take your whole family with you since you were too stupid to get my point. I watched Cosby and ADW in college so clearly i know the difference b/t a sitcom and a drama. Let me know when you and the fam graduate from special ed.
I always wanted to know why NBC canceled ADW in its height. The show had such an impact on kids gong to college. It showed what it was like a different world from where ya coming from. I was 7 when the showed premiered and watched it with my brother (who later on went to Savannah State College back in 93, now University). I was looking forward to seeing what life would be like for Dwayne and Whitley once they moved to another country. I know understand the message that was being portrayed.
this was the best version for the opening of the show

Who sang the first intro? I know Aretha sang the second intro, and Boyz 2 Men sang the newer one but I always wondered who sang the first!
