The great nation of Mexico it was not included in the acronym BRIC also because they wanted to keep as a confidential info. When the meetings of BRIC countries were held the great leader of Mexico didnt show up because he is too important to be disturbed (he was taking a SIESTA )by minor and less developed nations.

Sadly, it is not a secret how stupid and ignorant most americans are... Last year (2009) there was 2700 killings in Mexico because of the war on drugs...
Same year (2009) there was 5600 killings in the US... But no war in the US.
95% of the victims in Mexico were drug cartels killers or drug smugglers.
97% of the victims ins the US were women and children and a big number of them were gunned don BY THE POLICE.
VERY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT some SECRETS have been kept from everyone except mexicans. Now Im going to exposed them .
First Mexico is a well developed nation we all been fooled by media and data everywhere .10 millions of mexicans living illegaly in the US are actually citizens of other nations disguised as mexicans just to make them look bad !But only mexicans knew that .
All the poverty in chiapas and the zetas killing people like flies in Mexico are also foreigners trying to blame the Mexic
I dont understand what all these mexicans are doing here ! what f@k.

BRIC is a therm used for a while to describe four countries which were growing very fast...
Mexico was left aside because it is considered a developed country. But, as Mexico continues to show a set of characteristics which are most common in emergent countries than in developed ones, it was later added to this group...
In a few words... There is no BRIC but BRIMC...
If that hurts you in any way, I'm sorry but you might need to learn to live with it.

In this Year No European country will be in top10 the only ones that of today are and that in 2050 will be are USA and Japan...
@mgessler Brzl is seeking a FTA with Mex because it has a large market. Everyone wants to enlarge the market to one's exports. And I don't remind having called Mexicans losers. If I did, it was the heat of the moment. That's not my actual opinion. As for those stats, they are a portrait of the situation. Brzl's been growing fast these last years, but the same is not true of Mex. And they are more reliable than the ones you showed, which put Mexican per capita income as 2x their actual size.
@mgessler You said Mexico's GDP per capita is of 16,000 dollars, and that of Brazil is 7000. India's would be of 2600 and China's 1200. You concluded that Mexico's GDP is the largest of any BRIC nation. Let's see the real stats according to IMF 2009:
MEXICO GDP per capita: 8,135
BRIC GDP per capita:
Brazil: 8,220
Russia: 8,694
China: 3,678
India: 1,031
Man, you got all stats WRONG! Do Mexicans need to lie to get some self-steem?
@Rafael: Mexico has a free market mixed economy, and is firmly established as an upper middle-income country. It is the 11th largest economy in the world as measured in gross domestic product in purchasing power parity. According to the latest information available from the International Monetary Fund, Mexico had the second-highest Gross National Income per capita in Latin America in nominal terms, at $9,716 in 2007, and the highest in purchasing power parity (PPP), at $14,119 in 2007.
@atlantasbest Thanks for copying and pasting things up from wikipedia. Well, in nominal terms, Mexican GDP was actually the 14th in 2009, and it is now virtually half of that of Brazil (1.57 trillion vs 870 billion). In nominal terms it's also been surpassed as I showed below: 8,200 Brazil vs 8,100 Mexico. In PPP terms, admittedly Mexico still surpasses Brazil in per capita numbers.
@RafaelFernandeSantos : Guilty as charged lol... After a day of typing of course I rather copy and paste, too tired to type. lol... Sadly a lot of the growth could be done faster if we did not have corruption in our countries from our leaders. The money is there and so is the government thieves! Mexico and Brazil have the potential to be as good as Western Europe and US and Canada and such... eventually we will but corruption is slowing it down for now. Viva Tequila and Capirinha!! lol!!
A Goldman Sachs paper published later in December 2005 explained why Mexico and South Korea weren't included in the original BRICs. According to the paper, among the other countries they looked at, only Mexico and South Korea have the potential to rival the BRICs, but they are economies that they decided to exclude initially because they looked at them as already more developed. Don't get it twisted boss...
If we're such losers... Why in the world brazilians are BEGGING so hard for a free trade with Mexico?
Why Lula has sent his diplomatic staff every damn week to Mexico for four years by now asking for a free trade agreement?
Your stats are a joke when you cannot look at them in the long therm... Brazil is doing good and feel happy for it, but a drop of water does not fills the ocean...
@mgessler Brazil has the 7th greatest industrial sector in the world. To China it sells mostly commodities, but to the EU - Brazil's top 1 partner - it sells mostly autos and planes. The same with the US. Soybeans are the only commodity export Brazil is a top seller of, and it's not highly dependent on it. And Mexico, what Mexico is? Its industrial exports are mainly produced by US multinations installed in the country.
This page is about BRAZIL, RUSSIA, INDIA and CHINA, i don't understand why everywhere i look for the BRICS, i see a lot of MEXICANS trying to get attetion...
By 2050 it's economy would be around 30% bigger than Russia's -making it to the 5th largest economy- and with an Per Capita Income 25% higher than Brazil's (it is already that way)...
Brazil is -and will be for the next 80 years- a basic resources exporter while Mexico is an industrial, intellectual property and services producer and has the most modern economy of the countries listed here...
@mgessler:Due to Mexico's rapidly advancing infrastructure, increasing middle class and rapidly declining poverty rates it is expected to have a higher GDP per capita than all but three European countries by 2050, this new found local wealth also contributes to the nation's economy by creating a large domestic consumer market which in turn creates more jobs.
@atlantasbest :The main reason that Mexico was not initially included into the BRIC thesis was because it was already considered a major economy and a significant global power due mainly to its high oil output and advanced industries.
@mgessler Mexico has become a NIC "Newly Industrialized Nation" It has been lowering its Poverty from %24.4 to a %17.6 in the last 8 years and has been growing its GDP 5% every year. Having much deposits of Oil and also being an producer of ethanol products it could become a big exporter of BioFuels in the future, it is now the biggest automaker, and exporter in North America surpassing the USA and Canada. Infrastructure has been a big player in the fast growing economy at a local level.
@atlantasbest Mexico growing 5% a year, what a JOKE. Mexico has barely grown since 82%. Nafta neoliberalism has stagnated its economy. Last year the country FELL almost 7%, one of the lowest numbers for all Latin American and G20 countries. Get real man.
@RafaelFernandeSantos : Get a stats and history book before running your mouth, Mexico's economy actually if anything shrunk during the early 80's into the late 80's. From 1991 to 1994 it grew at 6% percent and it collapsed. From 1995 till today Mexico's economy has made a good recovery from the 1994 debacle, Mexico now has signed 12 new trade agreements with 44 different nations in the World. Lowering Poverty at a very fast pace and an increasing middle class with newly higher wages.
@atlantasbest Signing a series of FTAs is no sign of economic health. Mexico's trade balance has been in DEFICIT since AT LEAST 2003, something that was likely provoked by its dozens of FTAs.
Mexican growth during the last 4 years according to IMF:
2006 4.933%
2007 3.341%
2008 1.490%
2009 -6.538%
Average growth: 0.8% - way below the 5% per year growth you had talked about. Um, is making things up a Mexican national sport?
@RafaelFernande:Is your hating attitude your sport? Of course it was at -6.538 and a lot of other countries also did not do any good. It's called and WORLD RECESSION and yes We do export more to the USA but soon we will trade with more countries that have a growing middle class. We now have a total of 12 Free trade agreements and a total of 40 countries to do business with other than the United States. The US economy will recover and so will the Mexican economy, worry about your country!
@atlantasbest No, hating attitude is not my sport, but lashing back at those who want to make their country bigger at the expense of mine - yes it is. I have no reason to worry about Brazil right now, forecasts for the next few years are optmistic about the country. They all put growth at 4.5-6% range, which is consistent with our recent growth history and the fact that Brazil was one of the countries that left the world recession the earliest.
@RafaelFernandeSanto:At the end of the day all of our economies do need the US economy and you can tell how the Mexican and Canadian economy did slow down because of the US mortgage debacle but it will once again pick up in the next year or so. Comparing countries is very immature, the two guys that were arguing about who has the biggest economies were only wasting their time, Mexico and Brazil are in amazing recovery and slowly will reduce poverty and both have amazing potential for the future!
@mgessler hahaha, Brazil is the worlds 3th largest aircraft producer, just after Airbus and Boing, and you think we will be for the next 80 years a basic resources exporter? The Brazilian Space Agency has the most advanced space program in Latin America - Where is Mexico on the ISS? We build more cars than Mexico, more helicopters, more computers, and of course, we are not as dependent of the USA like you.
Every single country in this world depends on USA economy (OK, maybe not North Korea)... So your statement is more or less moronic.
Also, it does not matter how much a country built but how much intellectual property can develop... In this matter Mexico is -at least- 20 years ahead of Brazil...
You can, easily, notice that by the "per capita" income which is significantly higher in Mexico than in any other BRIC country.
@mgessler I know that. But i said Mexico's ecomomy is pluged to the USA. Thats bad. Brazilian economie is very mixed. last global crisis you lost more than 6.0% of it's GDP. And you know what? How many illegal mexicans are living in the USA???? of course you have some influence in the States...
@mgessler 70% of Mexico exports go to the US. In Brazil's case that's only 11% of exports. There's nothing moronic about saying that Mexico's economy is shamefully dependent on that of the US.
@mgessler Where? last year Mexico's economy lost more than 6.0% of it's GDP.
So, look on wikepedia for numbers from now, not from the past. Brazil per capita is not 7.000 and Mexicos Percapita is far away to be 16.000 ( You lie )
@mgessler When i say "The Brazilian Space Agency has the most advanced space program in Latin America" i'm saying the true. Mexico is NOT on the ISS: International Space Station. Brazil, USA and Canada are, the rest of the continent, are NOT.
@mgessler Brazilian engineers are also significant numbers in APPLE, MICROSOFT, IBM and many otheres, not ony Mexico ;) And guess what, we not only have a better industry, we have the technology! We build planes with our own technology, we have plants in CHINA, PORTUGAL, USA and BRAZIL. Look for EMBRAER.
The truth is I am an Offshore Investment Consultant & International Property Broker in North East Brazil and I see people making so much money in real estate its sick !
Here is where you can do your homework at:
Invest in Brazil at Google Groups
Anyone interested in investing in real estate property, purchasing a holiday vacation front beach retirement second home in Brazil can feel free to contact us. We have a very extensive portfolio !
2010 Confederation Cup, 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics besides the fact that AFIRE ranks Brazil as 2nd best place in the world for property investment
value appreciation and Brazil lending U$D10 Billion to International Monetary Fund Low unemployment rate, good GDP growth.
My friends, it is time to face reality ! We have lost our status of the leading economy and largest consumer in the world. I am sorry to burst your bubble but this kind of thinking is exactly what got us in trouble to begin with. Being arrogant and ignorant is not going to improve the situation. Most of persons that make those kind of comments do not know the names of Capitals outside of their own state much less can name capitals of other countries etc.
china will not grow that much, absolutely impossible. india grow that much can only be a joke.... just take a look at the country... i think Brasil can grow a lot more than that.... they have lots of oil(Petrobrás is the most advanced oil company), the amazon forest, in turism they rock, they have bio-fuels and their territory is big, and excellent for planting anything.
"china will not grow that much, absolutely impossible. india grow that much can only be a joke.... just take a look at the country..."
If by suggesting to take a look at these countries, you are pointing at the wretched poverty they have, then please note that it is the reason behind theirlow per capita GDP. Total GDP, however, is whole different beast. Due to there sheer size they would grow to that size. At least that is the projection, which of course... can be wrong.
What a shame that you feel you must talk about learning economics while you fail to grasp even the basic elements of spelling, grammar & use of capital letters in the most expressive language available to mankind.
my ass that by 2050 chinas economy will be twice as large as usa's i expect it to be bigger but not twice no way in hell india will catch up to usa and hell no mexicos economy will not surpas russias by 2 trillion
He is talking about total GDP not per capita. Due to their huge population the total GDP can grow to that projected size even though their standard of life will never be as high as ours. The advantage they have over us is their young population. Especially for India. Within the next decade 800 million people in India will reach working age. And with the growing economy, these people are getting employed. Europe for instance, has gone out of their demographic window if I have not mistaken.
It is true that many importers have practised bad business ethics not paying up thefull amount of the bill or nothing at all and exporters seem to get the quantity, colors and models mixed up very often besides the high defective volume in ration to the quantity sent out but we cannot generalize the entire country.
China has been a provider for the many of cheap labor force or cheaply priced product acquisition and I guess you get what you pay for.............

RafaelFernandeSantos 1 year ago
@RafaelFernande:Is your hating attitude your sport? Of course it was at -6.538 and a lot of other countries also did not do any good. It's called and WORLD RECESSION and yes We do export more to the USA but soon we will trade with more countries that have a growing middle class. We now have a total of 12 Free trade agreements and a total of 40 countries to do business with other than the United States. The US economy will recover and so will the Mexican economy, worry about your country!
atlantasbest 1 year ago
@atlantasbest No, hating attitude is not my sport, but lashing back at those who want to make their country bigger at the expense of mine - yes it is. I have no reason to worry about Brazil right now, forecasts for the next few years are optmistic about the country. They all put growth at 4.5-6% range, which is consistent with our recent growth history and the fact that Brazil was one of the countries that left the world recession the earliest.
RafaelFernandeSantos 1 year ago

We build more cars than Mexico, more helicopters, more computers, and of course, we are not as dependent of the USA like you.
jrcelestino 1 year ago
@jrcelestino
Listing Celestino...
Every single country in this world depends on USA economy (OK, maybe not North Korea)... So your statement is more or less moronic.
Also, it does not matter how much a country built but how much intellectual property can develop... In this matter Mexico is -at least- 20 years ahead of Brazil...
You can, easily, notice that by the "per capita" income which is significantly higher in Mexico than in any other BRIC country.
mgessler 1 year ago
@mgessler I know that. But i said Mexico's ecomomy is pluged to the USA. Thats bad. Brazilian economie is very mixed. last global crisis you lost more than 6.0% of it's GDP. And you know what? How many illegal mexicans are living in the USA???? of course you have some influence in the States...
jrcelestino 1 year ago
@mgessler 70% of Mexico exports go to the US. In Brazil's case that's only 11% of exports. There's nothing moronic about saying that Mexico's economy is shamefully dependent on that of the US.
RafaelFernandeSantos 1 year ago
@jrcelestino
Mexico's "per capita" income is well around 16,000... (Make NO MISTAKE: This income is still way below of it should be)...
Compare that to Brazil's 7,000...
And we're not to mention India's 2,600 nor China's 1,200...
And, of course, you can compare it to Spain's 22,000 or Germany's 36,000...
You may notice that both countries, Brazil and Mexico, have still a LONG LONG WAY TO GO yet...
mgessler 1 year ago
@mgessler Where? last year Mexico's economy lost more than 6.0% of it's GDP.
So, look on wikepedia for numbers from now, not from the past. Brazil per capita is not 7.000 and Mexicos Percapita is far away to be 16.000 ( You lie )
jrcelestino 1 year ago 2
@jrcelestino
"Where is Mexico on the ISS? "
Everywhere my friend!!
Mexicans are the second largest minority in NASA's technical and scientists personnel and human resources...
Mexican engineers are also in significant numbers in Apple, EA, Ubisoft, IBM and many others...
Mexico is the second largest provider of SAP certified consultants...
I mean... I can go for hours on this!! but that's not the point.
mgessler 1 year ago
@mgessler When i say "The Brazilian Space Agency has the most advanced space program in Latin America" i'm saying the true. Mexico is NOT on the ISS: International Space Station. Brazil, USA and Canada are, the rest of the continent, are NOT.
jrcelestino 1 year ago
@mgessler Brazilian engineers are also significant numbers in APPLE, MICROSOFT, IBM and many otheres, not ony Mexico ;) And guess what, we not only have a better industry, we have the technology! We build planes with our own technology, we have plants in CHINA, PORTUGAL, USA and BRAZIL. Look for EMBRAER.

China is our (USA) lender now meaning we are in so much that it will be very difficult to get out from under for the next decade or so...
Brazil is growing drastically and in my personal opinion with the correct leadership has the potential to become the world's new leader.
Politics have been notorious for screwing up this country. You people better start doing your homework and being more open minded and not so ignorant.

China will continue growing because they still haven't utilize their resource 1.3 billion population.

What a shame that you feel you must talk about learning economics while you fail to grasp even the basic elements of spelling, grammar & use of capital letters in the most expressive language available to mankind.

my ass that by 2050 chinas economy will be twice as large as usa's i expect it to be bigger but not twice no way in hell india will catch up to usa and hell no mexicos economy will not surpas russias by 2 trillion
crysishighestsetting 2 years ago
He is talking about total GDP not per capita. Due to their huge population the total GDP can grow to that projected size even though their standard of life will never be as high as ours. The advantage they have over us is their young population. Especially for India. Within the next decade 800 million people in India will reach working age. And with the growing economy, these people are getting employed. Europe for instance, has gone out of their demographic window if I have not mistaken.
shaonghosh1 2 years ago
It is true that many importers have practised bad business ethics not paying up thefull amount of the bill or nothing at all and exporters seem to get the quantity, colors and models mixed up very often besides the high defective volume in ration to the quantity sent out but we cannot generalize the entire country.
China has been a provider for the many of cheap labor force or cheaply priced product acquisition and I guess you get what you pay for.............
The coin has two sides.
