  • im coming to islamorada in 3 monthes to fly fish fot he giant tarpon you guys have! the guide said that it would be more challenging if i was flyfishing bcuz using bait is much easier.....do u think i will be successful with a fly?

  • @bigboismalls

Maybe if you have a good guide, cast accurately at the right fish and feed it the fly .Then all you have to do is land it. Good Luck to you!

  • dunno if its just me but at 7:22 was thaat another tarpon just to the left of the centre of the screen?

  • @SamTheFisherMan100

Yes that is another tarpon swimming past and having a look. Thanks for dropping me a line!

  • I recognize all the landscape... islamorada is the mecca, you can deep sea fish, fish with nothing off the coast (literally a spool of line and bait under the bridge), night fish, fish in the flats for bone, snapper, cuda, reds and tarp... it really doesn't get any better. too bad papa joes closed ! no where better to have a margarita after 6 hours of hauling gear. his vid really brings me back... in 3 weeks I will be there at the days in just before the hurricane memorial.

  • I was swimming near Islamorada a few years back, and a Tarpon darted past me. It was huuuuuge! Totally freaked me out. Nice Vid.

  • I live in Chicago and go Shark finshiing in Islamorada (and drinking in Key West for a few days too!) every year.

That place is great! You Aussies love that place too. I always run into some Aussie when I am there. A lot of people from all over the world go to that little fishing island. It's Carzy!

    Great vid and sound track.

    Cheers!

  • Cheers Mate,

The Keys are a very nice place to fish and have fun. It is the birth place of flats fishing and the blending pot of folks from around the world. Get yourself over to Australia and you will find they like Americans too..Plenty of sharks!

  • At 3:07 thats Don Johnsons house and its finally being developed again. I cant wait to see it finished its been an eyesore for a while now

  • Where did you guys stay, the view is amazing! I am trying to plan a trip myself.

  • It's a friends place. Google Islamorada I actually like staying at the Holiday Inn there. Dock at the back to be picked up from with pool and hammock!

  • what wight reel do you use and how much backing?

  • 10-12 weights. Most of the bigger reels will take enough backing to handle the tarpon. 300 yrds is ample.

  • Nice work,

in this week, friends of mine are going to this area, fishing for tarpon.

And the price for one boat a day... 500 Dollar ... ist very cheep. *smile*

5 Stars from us. Dave. DV Editor. BragNRelease.

  • What kind of boat do you fish? I'm shopping around and I really need an opinion from somebody who isn't trying to sell me a boat. Thanks!! Great flick by they way!

  • That one is my mates and it is a Action Craft (Bayrunner) an older model but in my opinion it is a good fishing boat. Good luck in the search.

  • Nice work Randall. Good aussie soundtrack too. Thumbs up.

  • Thanks Wes, you cannot beat the Keys for sight fishing tarpon mate. Take care

  • great vid dude.....reminds me why i live in SoFL........wish it was summer all over
