Why would anyone want to invade a primative backwoods toilet of a world like Krull? How did the Krullians even know about the Beast and his slayers invading other worlds? They don't have space travel, radio etc.

In nature reserves, set up offshore oil rigs, assemble pipelines & build refineries. After that, the beast was going to flood the market on it's home world of " 『∮≒ぎᄽ◦◄【△☼』 " (in their language) with cheap petroleum, & start a price war with OPEC. It's all in "Krull", the book. (the movie deviates slightly) It's also in the DVD commentaries, but only on Region 2 DVD's. ☺

@killa213213rs What?! How is this star wars rip off? There are no light sabers, the closest you come to the use of the force is the Glaive which is a mystical weapon, not some powerful bacteria. Most if not all movies have a good vs evil theme. The soldiers in this are monsters not clones.

Starwars is Sci-fi over Fantasy where Technology is more prominent and well known then magic (the force.) This is Fantasy over Sci-fi, with magic weapons, spells, and abilities. There is next to no Tech here.

A lot of the people you want to live die in this movie. But most of them die doing their part to help in the quest. In movie to die like that is a good death. Like the black dude from DOOM. He didn't just die... that dude fought back. And he got some good freaken hits in too. AND... The music for this movie is EPIC!!!

The movie rates well...It was made as a desperate tail clinger on the heels of Conan, and many like it, and was placed in the theatres against the likes of Indiana Jones, and The Star Wars original 3.. Yet it gained a folllowing. Fire mares? I remember MANY young teens wanting one, and AS many people looking for their own Glaive. AND...Think people, Liam Neeson had to start somewhere...why not a bandit in a low rated movie?

I saw this movie for the first time in the mid 1980s in a cinema in East Germany. It was one of the few Hollywood movies that made it to theaters behind the iron curtain. I still love watching this movie. It remained one of my favorite fantasy movies of all time and I agree with the other commenters who stated that it must be one of the most underrated movies of all time too.

@Comptonater Actually LOTR mostly due to Chainmail being around BEFORE Star Wars, however, you could argue Star Trek for the weapons. The alternate name for Krull was Dungeons and Dragons the movie, complete with all of the classes represented in the movie from 1st edition D&D.

Entertaining bit of fluff - interesting variation on the "rescuing-the-fair-princess-fr­om-the-evil-dragon" motif. Kudos for the concept and effort, but, unfortunately, Swords & Sorcerers doesn't comingle too well with Science Fiction. Nice scenery, though it's hard to tell the real from the backdrop.
