My grand mother was superb dude. She is like a living instrument. With vibrato and all the effects one can obtain with a mouth. She is great! She can also sing quite well, but her whistling is brill.

This has always been one of my favorite Jarreau songs. It's a particularly unusual song for him because most of the things he writes about are positive, sunny, and enthusiastic. THIS SONG, though, is not ANY of those things. It's about a man at the end of his rope. I guess it shows that even Al Jarreau has a darker side...albeit one that's rarely ever seen or heard.

Now that I think about it, I know Al was a mental health counselor or something along those lines. I just wonder if the song might have evolved out of his experiences in that field...particular listening to the improvised intro to this song.
