  • can any one tell me what is the clip from when hes eating the cack

  • @smujer95 ,

From the pre-music video "Happy Jack".

  • According to Keith Moon's biography by Tony Fletcher, this song was written by Entwistle, Townsend and Nicky Hopkins who plays the piano on this number.

  • kaban!

  • Is that Nicky Hopkins on piano?

  • @Keepsu Yes, it's him.

  • @AliwirHunter Thanks!

  • John Entwistle: The best bassist ever. FACT.

  • @campolimpedro

  • Does anybody know where I could see the rest of that cake video? Where they're all in a room and Pete and Keith are trying to break into something while Roger guards the door and John stands in the corner guzzling down cake? It's played over the tune of "Happy Jack" - is it somewhere else here on YouTube?

  • @linksfraulein its the music video for "Happy Jack"

    sound like shit..

  • Beautiful.

JOHN ENTWISTLE. COMES IN 5 DIFFERENT EMOTIONS: NONCHALANT! UNPERTURBED! INEXPRESSIVE! UNEMOTIONAL AND DISPASSIONATE!

  • First and best metal song.

  • @Autobot71Ironhide

exactly man these guys can take alot of credit for pioneering metal..

  • Would anyone else agree that he was the coolest man that ever lived

  • Nicky Hopkins on piano.

  • Comment removed

  • This man was amazing. Great bass playing! It really kept the band together, especially when Keith and Pete went off on there little thing.

  • Damn awesome bass player.

  • john entwistle and keith moon were GODS.

  • Oh, OK..."tommy" gun=Tommy. I guess that makes sense.

  • I want that staircase

  • RIP John and Keith

  • the Who had the greatest rhythm section,

there ever was or will be.

  • Besides the Stones, right?

  • nope in general they simply have the better ryhtym section then the stones the stones rythym section is ok but many are better. like LZ, Sabbath and such.

  • @CJbass420

    the stones were crape..

    led zeppelins were overrated.

    and sabbaths were underrated..

  • @GrungeRocker1000 the stones are a good band not one of my favs, but zeppeling is simply amazing and each member is unbeleivably talented, and black sabbath is absolutly amazing aswell.

  • @rockandroll4life1 What rhythm section, they alll led

  • @Bigmac520

hahaha you mean they all play lead ???

  • @rockandroll4life1 Nah, that title belongs to Rush. Enwistle and Moon were great though

  • @lightweight101

now you mention those 2. its really hard to choose from them now

    lol!

But Creams Baker/ Bruce is right up there with them !!

  • @GrungeRocker1000 You're right, Cream did have a killer rhythm section. I forgot about how good those guys were.

  • Best bassist ever and father of all things bass, big amps, and dark humour.

  • agreed

  • Anybody who can be that unattached to what he's doing and still be the best is not human, John Entwistle is GOD!!!

  • ole thunder fingers

  • John Enwistle was voted, "BASSIST OF THE MILLENIUM", ENOUGH SAID

  • dude.

    i want cake.

    *obsess*

  • LMAO.

  • man dig those guns, holy shit.

    This guy rules

  • There are greats, but all hail the King of Bass John Entwistle. R.I.P.

  • LADIES AND GENTLEMAN "THE OX"

  • Watching John eat cake in slow motion is probably equivalent to a guy watching a girl jump up and down in slow motion. In other words...it's orgasmic.

  • Comment removed

  • I've got to tell you, I much prefer listening to John play bass rather than eat cake. Maybe its just me.

  • He was nicknamed "The Ox" not for his size or his tendency to stand still during shows, but because of his strong constitution—his seeming ability to "eat, drink or do more than the rest of them."

  • I don't know. It's hard. I love both. I'll admit it was his bass playing that made me like him. So, I'd perfer that I guess.

  • @FluffMyGarfield GROSS!

  • the ox is the ox, he is the best

  • AHAHA best song !

  • The Ox, what a badass! :D

  • The Drumming is the best part of the song

    MOON THE LOON

  • best part(a side from the music) is the tommy gun at the end!

  • can anyone please tell me what's the name of the track that's playing on the background???? If it's a Who tune sorry, I can't tell, I'm not very familiar with the Who's music.

  • The track is "The Ox" - Last track on the who's 1st album, it was written by the bands bassist John Entwistle

  • @red777photo Actually, it was written by Entwistle, Townsend, Moon, and Nicky Hopkins.

  • the ox, from the album the who sing my generation, track 8

  • @loopyloupe

    Sounds like ' Wipe Out ' !

  • john entwistle uses a vox bass for the my generation video, abbeyroadlover08

  • He used a Danelectro for the recording.

Interesting story behind that as well... seemed it had a unique sound, attributed in part to its unique stock strings. Unfortunately, there were none of the Danelectro replacement strings available for it (at least in the UK). So when John broke a string, he wound up having to buy another whole bass to get that sound!

During the recording, he broke yet another string!

John would up buying several basses (4, I think) to make the song heard on record.

  • hes jus got such a steady look when hes playing. like yah. i know im the best. im the fucking Ox. its great. hes my idol.

  • There are many great bassists but seriously. He's freakin' Thunderfingers Entwistle. He was articulate, generally amazing and the way he carried himself gave him more stage presence than moving around like Pete could have ever done for him [not saying I don't like a little moving on stage XD].

  • He's just my favorite bassist of all time. The Who had, in my opinion, two of the best in their instruments; Keith Moon and John Entwistle. I mean, come on, My Generation? Best bass solo ever played-- but that's just one guy's opinion. Speak up if you agree or otherwise.

  • Master

  • THUNDERFINGERS RIP

  • Does anybody know the name of the bass he's using in my genneration vid ?(sorry for my english i'm french)

  • Vox Sidewinder

  • Listen to that bass and its "sinister low drone" as John put it. RIP Entwistle.

  • whats the name of this song

  • The Ox.

  • hell of a drummer.

  • sorry... hell of a bass :p

  • JOHN I LOVE YOU

  • the ox =} sexayy

  • Ah John is so sexy....and has a really sexy guitar too....lol...RIP John...LOVE YOU!

  • i love this sexy dude!

  • i love his smile.

  • John was so awesome!! His smile is so swoon-worthy!! RIP John!!

  • HAHA when he eats the cake haa i love it! John will always live on

  • he's such a badass. he's so calm but he's so fucking sweet.

  • R.I.P. John Entwistle, the greatest of the great. Bassists and musicians in general will always miss him.

  • John is the cutest out of all of the people in The Who!! ;D

  • what song is this

  • the ox

  • John sure is sexy.

  • moon is awsome here...Damn! I wish I could have seen the ox and the loon live. Its a shame

  • one of keith moons best performences

  • what's the deal with the thumb on his right hand during the first 15 seconds?? looks like it's all curled up or deformed or something. weird.

  • He has it curled behind his index finger.

  • he just positioned it so his thumb doesent slow him down during the bass solo alot of bass players do that

  • which song is this during the video?

  • the ox

  • from :12 through :15 is my favorite expression he has ever done. shows that it is all really too easy for him

  • From what vid is the last part?

  • It looked like home movies.

  • It was from the movie "The Kids Are Alright". Entwistle goes out to shoot "record skeet"; probably done in 1975 or 76.

  • Sounds abit like "Wipe Out" (keith being a big surf music fan) but it still kicks serious ass! Now sure if they ever played this live or not...

  • Amazing anarchic sounding stuff for 1965. Townshend's last few guitar licks sound very similar to Jimi Hendrix's Voodoo Chile solo from several years later.

  • i've never been the fist one to ever wright a coment for a video soo this is kinda kewl all i have to say ia that this song and the who are simply amazing
