i made 4500g from maelstrom shattering, i had 50 maelstrom crystals from getting gear disenchanted in dungeons and i got 80 heavenly shards, so i sold them for 65g each for a christmas special when they were going for 80g on terokkar AH.

Are heavenly shards in as high a demand as Maelstrom Crystals? Because I don't want to risk shattering my maelstroms if my heavenly shards aren't going to sell.

@Beazt203 Look at your auction house, if there are thousands up there, maybe its not in demand, if there are as little as Tarou had. Then yes, as an enchanter i can say how much i need Heavenly Shards. But unless your gonna turn your maelstroms into enchants such as Power Torrent/Landslide/Windwalk then shattering is probably the best way to make money off them

@Beazt203 As long as two heavenly shard sells for about 20% more go ahead and shatter a few mealstroms. Both shards are still in high demand so just shatter a few and if it works out, go ahead and shatter more^^

@Beazt203 - Rares are truly rare when you think about it which is why there isn't enough of Heavenly Shards going around. Lots of Enchants ask for them as well. Maelstrom Crystals on the other hand, are in high supply with all DE's happening in instances. Raids/Dungeons that are mostly being run only drop epics which is why the price was cheaper for Maelstrom Crystals on most servers before the patch. Shatter is the only reason they increased. I'm tired but I hope that makes sense?

@xZods Level up a gathering profession first, so look into his guides for them. Then after you've made enough gold from that if you wish to take up tailoring go learn that.

While it could work as a money maker shattering Heavenly shards seems more like a guild thing since in order to get them you would have to run Cata Heroics such as Deadmines and all of those to DE the blues in there to get Heavenly shards which serious raiding guilds like the one on my server doesn't have time to do.
