@jjmerkin DADT did mean that if his sexuality was disclosed or discovered he would get discharged, just as some of the 15,000 gay personnel have been since DADT began. He was asking ALL candidates (not just Santorum) if he was going to have to go back to lying to his army colleagues and friends in order to stay in the army and serve his country. During the last election, I was only a 6th grader. I knew almost NOTHING about politics except there were three main parties (Rep./Dem./Indep.). But after hearing what Rick Santorum said about DADT, and the audience booing that soldier (Props to him by the way), it really made me realize the importance of having the right person in office. RS seems to think that it's about "sodomy", when that ISN'T the case AT ALL. I think we, as a country, would regress even more if the GOP were in office.
The thing that is so wrong about DADT is that it is sacking someone from their job not for doing something, but for being something. Dismissal is humiliating and life wrecking in every sense, and is unfair on personnel with an unblemished, and often distinguished military record.
Repeal of DADT does nothing more than remove this intrinsic unfairness. It does not require soldiers to have gay sex with each other or wear lipstick, fluffy tutus and carry handbags into battle as some have suggested.

This disgusted me. None of these Republican candidates did not say a thing to defend this soldier after being booed. These candidates may not support gay relationships but they still should have took up for this soldier, just standing there and not say anything? This guy (and other individuals) have guts to fight for us (this country) and none of the candidates say a word. Obama did stand up for this soldier, he said it was wrong for this brave soldier to be booed and other things.

@jjmerkin DADT did mean that if his sexuality was disclosed or discovered he would get discharged, just as some of the 15,000 gay personnel have been since DADT began. He was asking ALL candidates (not just Santorum) if he was going to have to go back to lying to his army colleagues and friends in order to stay in the army and serve his country. During the last election, I was only a 6th grader. I knew almost NOTHING about politics except there were three main parties (Rep./Dem./Indep.). But after hearing what Rick Santorum said about DADT, and the audience booing that soldier (Props to him by the way), it really made me realize the importance of having the right person in office. RS seems to think that it's about "sodomy", when that ISN'T the case AT ALL. I think we, as a country, would regress even more if the GOP were in office.

The thing that is so wrong about DADT is that it is sacking someone from their job not for doing something, but for being something. Dismissal is humiliating and life wrecking in every sense, and is unfair on personnel with an unblemished, and often distinguished military record.
Repeal of DADT does nothing more than remove this intrinsic unfairness. It does not require soldiers to have gay sex with each other or wear lipstick, fluffy tutus and carry handbags into battle as some have suggested.

Just like you, they have OPINIONS which have somehow morphed into fact, law, and dogma. Many cultures still accept pederasty, but who are you to pass judgement? @morsmortis Actually there's a big difference between their opinions and the FACTS that show that homosexuality is in-born and not a choice. Not only that, the opinions that count are from the experts which are psychologists. If you look in the DSM, you'll see that the experts share my OPINION. Further, the other OPINION comes from ignorance and hatred of homosexuality. It's an emotional and not a logical viewpoint.

When people do something against someone else' will, that's not love, it's about power. Same with rape. Some cultures still allow husbands to rape their wives. I'm a conservative and I am a Christian. I have no business telling anyone who isn't a Christian in my sphere of influence what they should or shouldn't do. I love people and it saddens me sin exists, but to be hateful to another human who is gay is pointless. You are just as much a sinner in need of forgiveness as that gay guy in the millitary.
