and that includes holloween, valentine's day . heck we not even allowed to celebrate " eid al mawlid" of the most loved human being that ever lived on earth, let alone holloween. with all due respect.
I hear what you are saying, however, I believe that getting to know more cultures does not mean losing yours but expanding your understanding of other cultures and human beings. Tolerance and understanding of other cultures and people are the pillars of my life. I have friends from all over the world and I love them, and I am always curious to know more about how they live and what they celebrate; believe me they are the same way with me. and this does not mean that one is losing him/herself.
Tolerence and understanding other cultures is one thing and celebrating their religious hollidays is another. I think there is a big gap there. but it's ok that was just a remark dont take my word for it. you are free to do as u wish. but from the religious point of view celebrating anything that's not from our beloved deen is simply "Haram". just like the gentlemen said: "kol bid3a dalala, wa kol dala fi naar". The position is clean and it's not even a hadith it's in our beloved holy book.Salam
you are doing some great things here but i just wish that you stick to your origins and Muslim roots. don't let the American or western society consume you. litttle by little without you feeling it, you will lose your identity.all so called holloidays in western society are religiously motivated and a marketing capitalist farce to make believers consume and spend their hard earned money.
what's with the halloween thing, it's an Irish holiday that celebrate their beliefs as christians. i dont see any reason to have to assimilate to that. kinda disappointing.
well, I live in the U.S. and I dont see anything wrong about experimenting with other cultures traditions. nowadays, halloween is largely a secular celebration, and it's mostly for the fun of trick and treating and costumes. If I was living in any other country I would do the same, and experiment their culture and this does not mean that I am losing mine. I want people to experiment my culture when they come to Morocco. I believe this is the root of understanding and tolerance.
i'd agree with you if it wasn't religiously related, such as celebrating for example 4th of july or St valentine....but it appears that u have missed what Halloween is all about. kolo bid3atin dalalah..., i dont see them cellebrating 3id lkbir or fasting ramadan. Halloween majorly is a Marketing event rather than anything else...but assimilating something inherently religious of christians, i say no...this has nothing to do with tolerance, it's islam. all the respect, regardless.
well, just a small note. Halloween is not a religious holiday, actually, it's historically a pagan practice.actually, many Christians refuse to celebrate it because it has pagan roots.
I understand and respect your point of view, but for me these are all 'forms', what matters the most is the 'spirit' of what we do - and that is what I believe.
a note for u our beloved Alia, is that Halloween is a spritual belief and dates back 2000 years to the celts of irland who used to believe of coming of the spirits after the season of death that comes after the end of summer, their new year was in fact in november. It represented their spiritual and celtic origins. regardless of whether it was monotheistic or hedonic, it is spiritual. and u said it pagan....there u go. look it up. to be continued
I know :-( but I posted the recipe in one of my comment. did you see it? I promise it's in my to do list and then I get all these other nice ideas... oh food!
allah ir7am lwalidine ila ma diri lina chi bissara, rah talj ghadi idkhol, i tried but it ended up in the garbage can... ah o rfissa 7ta hia allah ijazik bikhir.
It Kinda reminds me of a mud pie if you left off the worms and candies. We used to make mousse with oreo ontop then we would decorate a grahmn cracker and make it into a tombstone. It was our treat on halloween!
Celebrate halloween doens't mean u going to convert. I worship all kinds of religion in the world. Is not a crime to adapt different culture.

the idea is, what would make us cheer for it being a pagan practice. kolo bid3atin dalala. might as well celelbrate hannukkah for the spirit of it.

Alia , I'm Not Gonna Eat Raw eggs , That's Crazy
Naoufalitos24 2 years ago
If you're concerned about eating raw eggs, you can try a carton of pasteurized egg. You will get them to whip if you're lucky.
