I've been listening Marty Robin while living in Jamaica as a young kid. Personally no other artist can cover the pictures of the wild west than Marty Robins. Not even Willie Nelson. Just Close your eyes and your in a Western Movie when he is singing. Big Tune. Thx
This song is a faster version on "All Around Cowboy" by Marty Robbins - released in 1979 according to Wikipedia. One of my favorites, although "Ballad of A Little Man" is my all-time favorite from the same album. :-) Hope this helps.
I grew up listening to Marty Robbins....i remember my brother and two sisters would act out this song..My brother was Marty, my younger sister was Dakota Jack, my twin was the killer kid that left me as Red..(im a red head so that was a no brainer choice made by my brother)..we had hours of fun listening to this song over and over while acting out the stages...we had a ball!!
Tarquin, i want to tell you, that it is because of your postings, and film clips of Marty, that
i really was able to 'discover' him. I have had a few of his cd's for years, but never knew what he was 'really' like. the photos of Marty on the cd covers were not good at all. Then when i found your film clips, I learned what kind of man he really was. To see him laughing as he sings, joking & talking, was a real treat!!! THANK YOU TARQUIN !!
What many not know is that Marty's ancestor was a Texas Ranger. He's not singing a song, he's telling us a story about his family. He's telling us a truth of life.
@aqx770 i thought i knew everything about marty. thanks for telling this. a texas ranger awesome. their motto one trouble one ranger and we always get our man. most of marty's songs tell a story. you are so right.
It's off of a Bear Family Various Artists CD called 'The Man Wh Robbed The Bank At Santa Fe.' If you type in 'Bear Family Records' you should find it plus the complete track listing.
I like this song. It seems to tell it like it was..and still is..for lawmen. I've known several fine law men and women who've had to face the bad guys alone...often with citizens calling them names and putting them down for doing their jobs...and I'm not talking about those few bad apples you see on the news, but the ones you only hear about in songs like this. Good job.
I agree! It is an unusual song, as well. There aren't that many songs that address such topics. I think Marty could sing nearly any song well. He always sang with great feeling.
we still miss ya

thumbs up if you feel that you have had the same pride in the same badge that you wore upon your vest at one time or another.

The ranger's motto is no man in the wrong can stand up to a man in the right, if the man in the right keeps on a coming.

The only version of this song I can find anywhere has some horns and a different tempo.
What album does this recording come from?

This song is not available on iTunes.
I've searched Amazon and can only find it on a cd that takes 1 to 2 months to ship, (WHAT?!) and is a different recording. The rythm is different.
This song on CD has now become my Grail.

you don't hear this music anymore. its too true to life, meaning life and death.
many of the old style country and bluegrass artists sang about real life.

him!

This song is seemingly to hear monotonously. However
I feels Marty's excellent singing ability is sufficiently contained.
Thank you for posting. ... CptSato
