@gullydome he's talking about on what pad you place the original sample when you go 16 levels. If you assign it to 10 everything above pad 10 will be higher in pitch (faster) and everything below will be lower in pitch (slower) by one semitone for each pad... If you want higher choices then choose a lower pad as you'll then have more pads available at higher pitches. Hope that helps... Peace!

@gullydome but wait! there's more! You can use the 16 levels for more than just tuning... you can assign it to velocity, tune, filter, layer, decay or attack. Just assign a sample to a pad and and play around with all of them. You'll get some interesting effects that won't cost you more sample memory.

@CHRCAR5 If you're going to use your computer to control the mpc you will be very limited. If that's your plan you need to get a fully fledged rack sampler instead. The mpc2500 is not multitimbral.

@subclonk yo you now whats really funny about what we call hardware "mpc ,roland, etc. " it's all controled by software.

we use reason " software" a midi controller "hardware" and a PC "hardware"

it's all the same thing software in side hardware...

@supreme7g My point was that the mpc isn't multitimbral, meaning controlling it from a computer is very limiting, whereas rack samplers are multitimbral. Also, there is a difference between embeded 'dedicated' software that does it's job well and using a computer to relay midi messages to/from hardware. MIDI is inherently bad at timing. It's no biggie on my part; I was just offering advice about it.
