The Barron Canyon is Algonquin's best kept secret...paddling on the Barron through the Canyon is nothing short of magical..thanks for the posting your trip so I could re-visit and sharing camping tips... :)
I was looking at the permit station at the sand lake access point and it says it wasnt open until june, how did you get a permit and what access point did you start from? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
@stikkks Hi - Not sure if anyone else will answer. I believe you best bet is to call Ontario Provincial Parks - you can reserve through them - and if you are planning on traveling off season they can tell you how it works. There are some gates open all year I believe. Hope this helps a bit.
@TheKabeen - thanks for responding to @stikkks question. I'm having problems responding to questions…I keep getting error messages. I sent @stikkks a personal message instead.
@stikkks - I sent you a detailed personal messgae…I keep getting errors when trying to post responses…, as @TheKabeen said, yes, call 1-888-ONT-PARK and advise them of your planned trip for "interior camping", including what lakes you will stay on etc..
Good job!

There were zero bugs then, that's why I chose to travel there in early May. Perfect time of year. However, there wasn't much wildlife then either.
