my turtle had a respiratory infection, I took him to the vet and 5 days later after antibiotics he was perfectly fine. So viewers if you see your turtle like this no there is no magical way to save them, nothing, YOU HAVE TO TAKE THEM TO A VET ASAP!!! and yes don't be shy to take your BABY turtle, mine was a baby I SAVED HIM! don't let this happen to you. A VET is the only way if you love your turtle.

Its sad what happens to millions of baby turtles when ignorant people who don't know the proper care for them have them as pets. I experienced that as a little kid, lost my baby turtle but now I know everything a turtle needs and tried again,now I could raise a baby to be an adult.

he might be sad, do you have a big enough tank for him? it needs to be about 5x his size, and do you have a UVA/UVB lamp and an underwater heater, if you dont you might want to get them, my turtle was like that and i went and baught a hole new habitat and now shes as healthy as a horse :)

I know this is a little off of the subject but what type of turtle is Alfred?...He looks just like my turtle & I dont know what type my turtle is. I have taken him to 2 different vets & neither could CORRECTLY identify him. Im in the process of finding a good vet but am still curious as 2 what type of turtle he may be. Thanks 4 your help.

It could be a few things; 1) water quality: it is very common for turtles in poor water conditions to get eye infections. 2) UV poisoning: if your lights are too close to him it could be effecting him...for a 5.0 UV light needs to be a min of 6" away from the basking area.

Your turtle probably has a respiratory infection. When it opens its mouth wide and extends its head, it is putting more effort into breathing in order to overcome the higher airway resistance that is caused by mucous secretions. You should go to the Vet immediately to get it antibiotics (Baytril) and a vitamin A injection.

yeah it a RI needs to see a vet because ris dont get cured on their own so what you want to do is bump its water temp to 85-90 degrees farinhite to stimulate a feaver but the most important thing to do is GET IT TO A VET!!!!
