@ruscool7 no, they arent, they created this song right after "Dookie", the album was called "Cigarretes And Valentines". However, before the could produce the album, the master recordings were stolen, so they felt, rather than re-record, the will start from scratch, and the product of that was "American Idiot". so basically, "American Idiot" took the place of "Cigarettes And Valentines" and no, as far as anyone knows, they have not returned to their Punk genre. and now you know :D

They start playing the title track, 'Olivia' and (I'm suspecting it's a "Cigarettes and Valentines" song - 'Dreamcatcher'.) To me it seems like there is potential for the album to be re-recorded. Wish the master-recordings would've never have been stole in 2003, we would've had THIS over "American Idiot". (Even though in my opinion "American Idiot" is good....The point has got across.)
