  • I feel like in Physicsclass :) Good Video.

  • I do not understand some of the other commentators reactions, but perhaps that's because I'm not a Buddhist by religion but I am a trained and learning philosopheress.

LOL, this reminds me of rough nights with friends where if people start talking like he just did, I like it but other people start complaining: "Shut up and get stoned, would you."

  • A moment is buddha.

What you see a lightning in the sky, that is a buddha, what you hear the bird sing, that a buddha, when you touch rock, that is a buddha. Everything is buddha.

  • Es hat nichts mit "chinesischen Karmapa" zu tun, im Gegenteil Karmapas Bilder sind in Tibet verboten. Also mit dem Argument ist ausgedient ein für alle mal.

  • heed the teachings, not the teacher

  • My Refuge Guru <333333333333333333

  • In Quantum Physics, scientist says, we don't even exists. We are not even here and also time does not even exists.

  • @TheIxtlan ... PEACE and HAPPYNESS to YOU

  • People, lets try to not embarrass the Buddha, by claiming to be 'Buddhists' and have such strong self grasping views. To claim someone's teachers is wrong - Falling into the fault of a dualistic mind. To get angry and act upon anger because someone criticizes OUR guru is also a fault, as we believe OUR views, OUR gurus are correct.

    May dharma flourish!

  • Very interesting:)

  • Urteilst Du selbst?

    Have you met both 'Karmapas'?

    Have you met Situ Rinpoche?

Or are you just repeating what your 'right' or 'wrong' teachers tell you.

You must think you're pretty enlightened to be able to proclaim Situ Rinpoche as a 'wrong teacher' ...

But hey - I guess I'd be doing a similar thing if I said your teacher is 'wrong'...

But at least (if it is Ole) I've met him...

Anyway - glad you're on the Buddhist path.

No need to get too distraced by the whole confusion.

    Mind your mind

  • @Bewusstheit - Dummes Gerede bis Peinlichkeit, Schweigen ist besser wenn man nicht gescheites zu verkünden hat :-)

  • 1. The charismatic leader (Ole Nydahl) surrounded by groupies and Ole Clones. This is known as a cult of personality. He also has no authentic credentials, and is not qualified to hold the title of Lama. Ole only started using the title of Lama a few years after the 16th Karmapa's death, while claiming that the 16th Karmapa granted him such a title.

  • 2. The manipulation of information. Books Ole Nydahl doesn't agree with or are critical of him are banned from the centres. Members are also discouraged from seeking teachings from any other source.

    3. Abuse of members lower in the hierarchy by those higher up. This emotional (and sometimes physical) abuse is explained away as 'purification' and members are told it is simply their karma.

  • 4. Questions or criticisms from members are dismissed and suppressed. The member is then made to feel guilty and told it is their fault. They are called 'spiritually weak'.

    5. Diamond Way has it's own words and language, to separate members from the public. Words are also given new meanings. New members are also given fancy new Tibetan names to make them feel important and separate them from their old life.

  • 6. There is one rule for those lower in the hierarchy, and another for those at the top. For instance, DW teaches that adultery is wrong (in common with authentic Buddhism), but at the same time, Ole Nydahl is known to have had affairs with several of his students, and had a mistress called Caty Hartung as well as his wife, Hannah.

  • @Bewusstheit That comment was really unnecessary and pointless. Well it did serve one purpose and that was to make your self feel good, special or important and to make others feel less than you.

  • the teachings are so simple that this is even no buddhist teaching. the same teachings could have been made by a psychologist who tells us something about perception. sorry - but this vid does not convince me. he should have learned more from 16.karmapa but his pride prevents him form listening to his teacher. so, this is unfortunately just another advertisement for urgyen thrinle.

  • When the Buddha gave a teaching, each of the listeners were hearing something different - each according to his/her level of understanding.

The Buddha never wanted to 'convince' anyone and always stressed that people should only trust their own experience...

So I'm glad this vid inspired you to sit down and meditate on time, impermanence, the instantaneous-ness of the mental prozess.

    May your meditation be liberating.

    From your own experience:

    How was the 16th Karmapa?

    What did he teach you?

  • At first the Buddha was reluctant to pass on what he had learned, thinking that people would not understand. Finally, the devas Brahma and Indra requested that the Buddha teach what he had discovered. They explained that "there are those whose eyes are just a little covered with dust" who would understand. The newly enlightened Buddha was doubtful, but at last pursuaded.

  • it been more the fifty years of Chinese suppression on Tibet..they were peaceful most of the time but of course as humans with emotions they are going to get frustrated when nothing is changing..and THOSE VIOLENCE OF THE RIOTERS CANT BE COMPARED WITH THE 50 YEARS OF VIOLENCE, TOTURE AND KILLING IN TIBET..Chinese can only look at small mistakes of Tibetan forgetting their own mistakes that they have been constantly repeating..FREE TIBET

  • Very true, very wise.

  • I don´t think this is intelligent what tai situpa trys to explain...

  • really?

  • I understand. I tend to get quite defensive when people criticise my teachers. But its ok. I need to deal with my emotions and thoughts just as others will deal with their own. All the best to all the mother sentient beings.

Thank you HHK17 for all your fantastic videos. Looking forward to watching your DVD when it is completed.

  • I had a remembering dream to see this video. like a long time dream. so weird.

  • between each thought is the perfect moment

  • "The past is an illusion

    The future is a mistery

    The present is a gift."

  • From the seed comes the flower.

From the flower comes the fruit.

From the fruit comes the seed.

Past, present and future are one.

  • This is to assume that our thought and perceptions follows physical rules and limitations. Light although on initial observation, seems instantaneous, but we know that even light travels at speed that is not instantly transmitted from point A to point B.

The fastest thing in the world is not a cheetah or a plane or the speed of light. Everything has a lag time- except thought and perception. Thought is faster than the speed of light (and possibly able to leap buildings in a single bound).

  • Illusion is what others do not observe or see. Somewhere in the middle is what most humans observe or see- like the sight of the hand waving in this video. The reality is what we may never see, but only study in parts and pieces but never be concienciously aware of all that is going on at any one time.

  • While his hand is waving there is blood and hemoglobin circulating, there are electrical impulses which move the muscles, and any number of other things happenning including evaporation of water through pores on the skin.

Illusion- is the dreaming or subconscious state in which you see one of your friends in your dream at night- tell them about it the next day- and they don't know anything about it.

  • Somewhere between (sorry I don't have a word for this in English)- is when something happens and everyone saw it and experienced it.

Reality- is when something happens and although you can't see it with your own eye- it still exists and occurs. Like E-coli in our stomachs. Who knew? But we have been living with these bacteria for over 1 million years and without them we would be unable to process food.

  • Bemerkungen Zur Buddhistischen Doktrin der Momentanheit Des Seienden - by Claus Oetke.

  • Dust in the wind, all we are is dust in the wind. Even the moment is illusion and all we have is memory of that illusion. blessings, Nahu

  • As always. HE Tai Situpa makes the most difficult things very simple..many thanks.

  • Thank you so much for this wonderful series. Rated 5 and saved. Very interesting.

IT IS YOUR MIND THAT MAKES THIS WORLD !!!

  • One reason why I disagree with the Word Illusion is that I think that human special experience could be sometimes magic. And if all would be an Illusion that was an Illusion too , I dont believe that.

Second is I prefer the Word Limited , because I think we are a limited Species wich must be living in a Limited World with a special limited reality. If we realize that,we become modest. If we think that all is an Illusion it could be a Negation of our experience.

  • As joef1987 said: 'LIKE' is the operative word. It's LIKE an illusion. It's LIKE a dream.

"Existance is beyond the power of words.

To describe terms may be used -

but none of them absolute" Tao Te King

    Secondly:

    'Limited' - YES.

But the limitations are also not absolute.

Our primordial nature is LIMITLESS FREEDOM

  • Okay , I agree " Existance is beyond the power of Words" very good.

If you say our primordial nature is unlimited you talk about a soul or somtething like that right ?!

  • any "something like that" would be limited.

Unlimited freedom is not "something" - it is also not "nothing" ... it is neither existing not not existing nor both nor neither.

It cannot be asserted or defined. Definitions draw finite limes. Limit-less also means without finite boundries - in-finite ...

  • Hi,our physikal Body existance is definitely not unlimited and surely also not limitless free.Without something to define I can say if someone talk about limitless Freedom he talk about a bodyless thing , because our Body can´t allow Limitless freedom.

To define something like that (as the christians do)seems me surely not really possible. If we believe in Reincarnation , there must be something what is born again , whatever .

  • the 'limitless freedom' thing will be explained by Situ soon on this channel... so stay tuned...

but first will come his commentary to "everything that appears is your mind"

    or

"with your mind you make this world"

    STAY TUNED

  • "All phenomena are illusory displays of the mind.

The mind is no mind, as the nature of the mind is empty.

It is empty, yet it is unceasing and unimpeded, manifesting as everything whatsoever.

Through careful observation, may the root be cut through.

    Appearances have no true existence,

seeing self-manifestation as objects is illusory.

Because of ignorance, self-awareness is mistaken as "I".

Because of dualistic fixation, beings wander in samsara."

    RANGJUNG DORJE, the 3dr Karmapa

  • I agree if you say it looks loke an Illusion. Also the light reflection is a partital truth.

Humans can recognize s special human reality , like a fly recognize a typical fly reality !

This knowing about our limitations implies humility for every human ! But I can´t recognize this kind of humility in Science and religion. They always wants to disseminate final truth ! That makes me sad, sometimes.George

  • Hallo

  • It is not that phenomena are illusions, it is that they are LIKE illusions. Because of our mental obscurations we cannot perceive things as they actually are, that is the point. For example, when we see a red apple, the apple itself is not red, what we are seeing is the red light reflecting off of the apple. Therefore the apple is every color BUT red! Simply because we perceive an object does not mean that it exists that way, this is why the Buddha advises us to see all objects as illusions.

  • lekso lekso

    well said

  • Hi :-)

I agree,we as humans are not able to see the aCtually reality and further we also very limited in what we can see ( also what we can detect with science, for example quantum physics and cosmology). So our skill to recognice our Environment human coloured and

limited forever ( forever at humans ).

Also actually Science shows us a World that we cant really understand , look at the Mutiversetheory,at the Quantumphysics, and at the cosmology.

  • But is that what we see an illusion ?

An illusion is something what definitely not happend or what not had happened !So if I see a star which exploded 100 years ago , I see his past reality, I see this 100 years old light , hundred years old photons which makes that Starpicture in my Eyes and my brain, thats definitely no Illusion.Iam not able to see his present , but his physically past !

  • I agree with that, but I think it would be better to say its an human interpretation and not an illusion. If i see an fata morgana in the dessert its an Illusion because its not realy on the point I see it . If I see your Hand moving its an typical human interpretation of what has happend in the last seconds.I agree its not an Reality( because we to limited as humans to see the reality ) , but its an Interpreation of what has happend , right ?

  • the star you see shining in the night's sky might have disappeared hundreds of years ago. So actually you're looking into the distant past and you see the star as existing even though it might not be. The is the principle. Sure if you watch his hand moving the gap is much smaller. But no matter if you consider it an illusion, a distortion of perception of just a human interpretation - the point it to be aware of the GAP between reality (isness) any your world of experienced...

  • brilliant!!!
