It only makes a difference if you do a french braid because a reverse braid sits on top of the head, rather than tucking under. I think it's called a dutch braid.
Is there really a noticable difference between the reverse braid and a regular braid? If someone did that to their hair, my first thought when I saw it would not be, "Wow! What a nice REVERSE braid!"
The pattern of the braid is reversed. In the standard braid, the diagonals run downward, pointing at the tip. In the reverse braid, they angle toward the head. It's subtle, but it is different. It also creates different tension, causing the braid to curl in the opposite direction dependent on how tight it is.
Actually, yes. Often called "muscle memory" or "skill memory", learned manual skills are learned independently of facts and events. This is why Alzheimer's patience often forget who their own children are but they don't forget how to drive, play instruments, ride bikes, etc.
... Okay? The technique is thousands of years old just like most other braiding techniques. It's simply less common these days, so it's nice to see someone spreading the ideas.
I give up from doing all this poop

yea, i know what you mean, but it's good to know the difference because it makes a french braid look different
LaughinWarheads 2 years ago
I suppose, but I think expertvillage actually has another video for making that type of french braid (I can't remember what it's called right now).
BioChemMaj13 2 years ago
it's a dutch braid. basically the braid sits on tops of your hair and isn't 'in' your hair.
BlackRoze29 2 years ago
@BioChemMaj13 No, not normally, but there IS a really big difference between a reverse FRENCH braid. They look very different.
