Before my disciples jump all over you, let me hip you to the fact that the groove comes from the inside of the groovers and having the insight and the skill to drop the sounds at the right spot and time, also known as good taste is where its at; which calls for some sense of imagination. Keep on wachin'. Your feed back is appreciatted.
@jayjem22 You are the greatest man! I still watch the Jaco interview and it blwos my mind even today. Thanks for the breakdown and keep up the groove!
When someone asks me who my influences are, I always say James Jamerson, Sherman Holmes and Jerry Jermott. I used catch you when you played at Dan Lynch's back in the 80's and would always try and sneak a minute or two to pick your brain. Thanks for helping shape me into the mucisian and bass player I've grown to become.
Being IS EVERYWHERE & i feel it in my body , my instrument is my body and i feel it . there 4 I AM .people make music, not instruments . your looking solid as a rock J.J and still flowing like water . lond ever lasting life to you .

Jerry I don't know if you remember me, but I met you at the Richard Davis Bass Conference. I was just a little kid playing bass and you asked if you could play along with me and read off my music. The humility you show makes you one of the better musicians I know.
Recently I listened to you interviewing Jaco Pastorius, great stuff. Keep on playing, all of us have a lot to learn!
What kind of fretless is that on your rack?It 's the same one you loaned to Jaco on his video isnt it? I love that bass. Just never knew the brand. Love your playing.
no its not hard to believe your a phenominal player and inspired a wide range of player oh by the way thank you very much for taking time to reply you could of just been like "screw off " but you didnt thank you very much kind man /monster of the low frequincies :)
The stuff with king curtis and bb and freddie king, aretha.... You are truly one of my greatest inspirations, alongside jaco, jamerson and willie weeks, and some others... Hope you make som more videos for us.
Hey man, I just wanna say thank for bringing some of the greatest thrills a a bassplayer can wish for... I first realized who you were when I bought Jaco's modern electric bass dvd, and it was a revalation to get to know the name of the player who played the grooves I'd heard so mantytimes and loved so dearly...
Mr. Jerry, I think you're one true groovemaster. I just listenend to your version of Ain't no mountain high with Roberta Flack. Great! Thanks for the inspiration!
Any thoughts on curriculum other than the basic Personal Expression Through Musicianship that is one of the cornerstones found in my EBook" There's Music In Everyone!"?
Same guy 23 years older and a few pounds heavier (and with shorter hair). If you remember Jaco plays the same riff as Jerry does in the beginning of this video as an example of his influences. Check out his playing with King Curtis.
I played one once when my J bass was stollen between recording sessions at A & R and all they could find to rent was a P bass. The engineer commented that I got the same sound.
Like I say, it's all in the touch, to get the sound that we want to hear.
Well Sir, you are awesome.
