  • where are you from isao machii??

  • @zunrock Japan

  • a pleasure to see such a wounderful IAI kata.

    and his personality too.

he is a good personality and a beautiful culture.

i am glad to see that there are still people like him.

    adigato

  • It was a great pleasure to watch this. I cannot call it a display or demonstration. machii sensei left the stage as if he left the Dojo after a class. The audience had become the students. Wonderful.

  • Hi Syuushinryuu san, nice to see you have your own youtube place. Thanks for posting your vids, its really amazing how your skills are. I practice myself Muso shinden ryu 2nd Dan. I have much to learn :D

  • wow i was zoned out of my sorroundings and was completely concentrating on the sword

  • @TENNENSUI2100

  • Secrets of Yagyu Sinkage Ryu with English subtitles.

    watch?v=FfhtYKQ-iU0

  • I would study under him

  • His sword skills are good; in fact great (as I've seen elsewhere), but he's just not a performer. With his frame his sword movements just doesn't co-ordinate very well with the music. I've seen better on youtube.

  • @gnoynix1 this wasnt about going along with the music, it is simply showing the different katas, chances are, if your a performer, your not a martial artist, it is not about performance, its about the timing and exution of the strikes.

  • is katana well balanced ?

coz i feel so heavy to my katana.

  • Impressive, Excellent form and control

  • I can hardly find any english information about this "Syûshin ryû".

When was it founded and by whom?

  • living legend

  • I would love to see somebody try to mu Isao Machii. "Oh look, a helpless scrawny Japanese guy! He'll be an easy target!" And those would be the last words they ever spoke. Seriously, this guy is unreal he's so good.

  • man, this guy is the greatest sword wielder alive....

  • Beautiful.I love your videos man.Arigato for uploads.

  • isao san (assume that is your family name) ..i think you may have been born in the wrong century, if you ere in the bakamatsu, you would rank highly as a swordsman.

  • I agree 100%

  • Very good!

    Looks like Hasegawa Eishin Ryu.

  • I'm so glad that there still are people so talented in this world. I hope you also have students because your art must be kept in the future.

  • Simply incredible!!

  • any one know how old he is? How long he has studied?

  • I am 35 years old now.

It becomes 17 years including Iai.

  • mitsurugi in real life.

  • Thank you for your comment.

  • You should all see this guy on the "modern samarai" youtube video. He cuts a bullet out of mid air.

  • he is a master of his art. The "bullet" is only a littleball from a softgun he never could cut a real bullet from a real weapon. But in all cases he is a great martial artist! respect to his teacher(s).

  • he cuts an arrow in flight. That's pretty damn amazing. Reaction speed of under 80ms.

  • had he been in the path of the arrow he still would have been hit though. his cut was at the very end of the shaft. i have no real evidence but i think the cut would have saved him probably, especially if armored, but he still would have been injured for sure. but Amazing accomplishment. its like a anime or something. haha i can not do it it all this man is way better than me. I mean no disrespect to him.

  • Incredibely beautiful, lots of power and speed. I would love to see how someone of this calibre measures up to the best of western Tallhoffer and Divallio style fencers.

  • Thank you for your comment.

  • I'd love to see this with a high-speed camera so we less initiated could see the nuances of how you move through the form.

    Many thanks for the answer.

  • fantastic to watch

    thankyou for uploading this

your excellent videos have just earnt you a new subscriber.

  • Thank you for your comment.

  • genmaru666 wrote: "Im 2nd Dan Katori Shinto Ryu Iaido."

Since when did Tenshin-sho Den Katori Shinto Ryu start using the modern Kyu/Dan ranking system?

(And when did they start refering to their iaijutsu as Iaido?)

  • Incredible! Precise and powerful. Thank you very much for sharing. ^_^

  • Thank you for the comment.

I am honored to evaluate like that.

  • hmm looks like a derivated of the hasegawa line...

  • Syuushinryu-Iaijutsu is a sect who separated from Hasegawa-Eishinryuu.

Therefore, shape looks like almost in this shape, too.

  • Very, very nice to watch.

  • Thank you.

  • Superb! A true pleasure to watch.

  • Thank you.
