hahahahaha! PEEEEEEEEEP! Oi!! wheres the button? what was on before the broadcast ended i didnt get too bloody see it!! now mr bean is a global brand! that is why he drives a mc laren F1 and.. and..
Yeah ... I remember those days, when shortly after midnight there was nothing on telly anymore ... and all you got was that frustrating continuous ear-piercing sound and a silly still picture ....
This is far better than the bingo phone in shown on ITV. They ought to close ITV down at night and play this rather than put that rip off tosh on. (Yes I know it's BBC)
is that clip not from the tv show "not the nine o'clock news" starring rowan atkinson,mel smith griff rhys jones and pamela stephenson? i'm sure i saw that end clip used on an episode i watched a few weeks back when they showed it on paramount comedy 1 or 2.
You know it could be. I don't have the definite information, all I know is that it was recorded on the same night as Comic Relief, one after the other. If anyone can definitely clear this up I'd really appreciate it, so I can put in the right details.
I was purely going by what was on the tape, and in what order
@CapnKirkus Not The Nine O'Clock News started in 1979 and that was also the year the stripey "2" was introduced. This is a sketch from the series. Also the show finished in 1982 and the very first Comic Relief Red Nose Day was in 1988.
It could be, I'd have to check into it really, but I judged that it was 1988 from the adverts on the same recording that said 1988 on them. I'll look through the video more though.
If anyone else has information on this it'd be much appreciated
This sketch was first broadcast in Series three of NTNOCN some time around Nov1980 on BBC2. iI was supposed to be in Ep 3 ,but was prob. used in ep4 or 5. It was subsequently shown in repeats, and compilations, and was indeed used at the end of Comic Relief night one year .
Remember this too.

Rowan Atkinson would make a good announcer!
racrimbpsvc 2 years ago 40
He would if it was still the 80s. Sadly, nowadays, there's no room for those great, deep and soothing voices that the BBC once had.

@racrimbpsvc
Agreed! Rowan Atkinson settles for nothing less than perfection! He'd be SO ideal!

rowan is legend!!!!!!!

The BBC2 clock was working off the computer designs; also, the normal BBC2 test tone is at 440Hz, whereas BBC1's is 1kHz.
