@Laimonel I too. It seems like he's a really skillful drummer. This is my all-time favorite playing of this song. I can't see how it could be played better. The only thing would'a made this better is if he did the "Make nice." phrase at about 3:14 in this version; the way he did during the droning moment near the end of that other recording of this song.
This one, tourette's and Blew are totally my favorite Nirvana songs.
Przygotuj dla nas taki koncert żeby nam po przyjściu do nieba odpadły skrzydła, odrosły włosy i wróciło szaleństwo! A po tym wszystkim rozniesiemy całe niebo jak Ty niegdyś scene. Happy Birthday Kurdt.
This album was so basic, raw, and pioneering! Not quite polished enough for mainstream. Mention Chad Channing or Jason Everman today and everyone draws a blank. I wish I could go back 20 years, but honestly I don't think I ever left there!!..
@ididcramsmom to be fair, jason everman really didn't do much. basically a full us tour, he had tons of money in the bank from commercial fishing, so he financed their record. when he realized he wasn't going to have any part in writing the songs, he left.
@D0oD0oBrain this is not punk. punk is fast and aggressive. this is nirvana's own style.. if people wanna call it grunge its ok, but not punk please XD...
specially the songs from bleach and demos like "sappy" or "help me i'm hungry" (there are too many to mention) .. if you say "breed" is punk.. i wont agree anyways but "big cheese", this song cant be compared to anything
This is the Nirvana I remember from their first visits in Nov 89. You can keep your teen spirit bullshit, this iIS Nirvana, pre-messed with, pre-glossy packaged, pre-bullshit.
I just prefer most bands pre-fame. I think producers can overdo studio sessions. Plus there's the pressure to make it mass-market/radio friendly. Give me live music, and demo-tapes any time.
This song is about "pressures he felt from him ....because he was being so judgmental about what we were recording." (hje was speaking of Poneman and Pavitt, before signing with David Geffen Records, and that's why the song was added on the later relaeses). I guess Big cheese and Mike/Max represent the two instead of just blatantly calling names.
Why are you guys saying chad is crap?I prefer his drumming much more then Dave's.Oke Dave has written some very nice stuff too but i still prefer chad.
he sounds crap??? I think he's one of the few artists who could afford to be out of tune and still sound the part....that's the phenomenon of nirvana....there's been nothing like this for a very long time.....and maybe even before.....I'll stick to blues for now on and hope that there'll be a boy or girl who'll wake us up again one day.....
They didn't, it just ends at Sifting. Funny story how i got it. I was in Toronto for the day walking arround town, when i saw a vinyl shop! I decided to go in and when i found this i got it right away!
Kurt liked him the first few years of Nirvana because he showed up for practice(their drummer before Chad barely showed up) but after awhile he started to sort of hate him.
