Well bugger me... I remember ol' Stu from the Marryatville days in the late '70s early '80s, last time I saw him, late '80s I think, he was living in a squat on Cleveland Street Redfern! Great to see he's still kicking!

i was living wqith brett ford at that very flat for two years builduing chop-chop bicycles and generally wasting time. It was when both our music careers had hit bottom, and whilst being down, you find "out". I'd love 2 find brett nowadays, I am sure he is here in melbourne somewhere...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Brett Ford died of the inevitable I can't remember if it was late last year of early this one. But I'm pretty sure he passed in Sydney still living on the Street. (If you could call the cupboard he was apparently resident in a home). There is a story in 'Users News' a free mag from the methadone clinics (NSW) I think the March edition...

ohhhh fuck.... so many of my best friends have died this year, and I have lost a child also this year. Brett was very close to me in so many ways - he helped me get through the hardest times in my life through remaining true to himself through adversity. After the divorce, loss of his design shop in Sydney Wheels and Doll Baby and the death of his girlfriend immediately after his marriage - I reckon he enjoyed the rest as well as he could. RIP Bretty - you were a good friend to me.

Yeah, it's really good to hear from someone who wasn't against him cos of his drug problems. No one I know cared once he died, (probably because he wasn't in some groovy cool band anymore) and wrote him off. Lubricated Goat with Brett in the lineup was the best underground, punk/grunge (or whatever classification you like) band that I have ever seen live, in terms of insanity coupled with technical genius on the parts of Brett's old matched grip drumming and Stu with his Jazz dad muso influence.

Brett definately was a key influence to the sound, as were all the guys. I met stu once, he stopped through with a bit of time to kill. I think he was heading back to london at the time and seemed at peace with the reprehenseable filth we lived in at the time. We occassionally played one of his guitars - and once or twice ripped out the violin - b4 the hock shop owned anything of worth! We told eachother musical war stories from both our perspectives and learn alot from one another... Top guy.

Saw these guys in Lansing MI. in 2004 or '05.

Smokin' live set. The best kind of nasty there is.

They may have had a different drummer then. The drummer in th' vid don't look anything like I remember him. But I was very drunk.

Of course, he may have played to death.

i was playing with them then but unfortunately was not able to go on that tour, which sucked because my mother is from Lansing (Sexton High) and they played other midwest spots i know well. anyway, the drummer is the same one you saw play, but he's not with us anymore, split back to Australia. thanks for comment.
