And what is it with the ridiculous characters for Cheryl's boyfriends??? The whole beauty of the Series, were that they were subtle. Big own goal this Xmas special. Unlike The New Sofa, which was a really good Xmas special.

Ian, I don't think this show is implying that all working class people are like this. This is about a particular family and their close friends. I think the actors in this are really talented because there is no action to rely on. All the entertainment comes from the little things they say and do. And I love how Nana enjoys winding up Jim. I never get tired of this programme.

The whole point of this is our imagination fills in the blanks of the people and places they mention that we don't see. If we did actually see them/it then it wouldn't be as funny. The writing, acting, and the way the characters interact with each other is what mkes it funny not the setting! and it's SOFA not Couch!
