Wemade a short film called RoboWarrior. It has a similar theme and plot and also has stop motion. Check out on our channel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i was young probably just a teenager when i saw this video at the local video rental ,and i thought the box cover looked pretty good,so i thought i would give it a try. i got laughed at when i rented it but i still liked it. still holds up till this day.
Well, yeah, if you're talking about stuff on the scale of a personal exoskeleton, it's definitely workable. But that's a far, far, FAR cry from "MECHWARRIOR FTW!!!", and it's completely irrelevant in a discussion about such things.
How so? A Japanese company actually MAKES them right now, but their walking speed tops out at a blistering 3 MpH. They can't even lift their feet.
Haven't you heard of the inverse square law? When you make something bigger, you make it heavier proportionally. Barring some future technology that defies literally everything that we know about kinetic energy (and, no, this isn't an "Airplanes used to be 'impossible', too!" situation), any "powered suit" would be immobile.
this movie is so good! MECHWARRIOR FTW!!! wont be long till we have mechs in real combat we already got remote control drones and computer controlled machine gun turrets lets up the anti to some assault chassis... u cant drive tanks over mountains but you can sure as hell jumpjet mechs over them.
As cool as they are, we'll never have mechs "in real combat"; at least, not the kind that they have in Mechwarrior. The impracticalities and weaknesses of bipedal movement on ANY scale, let alone that of a 50-foot-tall robot suit, far outweigh any possible advantages in mobility (and, taking real-world engineering considerations into account, even those are exceedingly limited). Jump jets are even less workable.
I don't know, but is 'goofy' a fair characterization? Is all science fiction goofy? I've seen some real crap on the sci fi channel, this was pretty good. I rented this, and my son, who was five at the time, and I, had a great time watching it. He referenced it in conversations for years afterward. Dude, It was entertaining. I mean, what else do you want from a sci-fi movie? We don't really have giant robot fighting machines. Thanks for posting it, though. I had forgotten all about this flick.
Reducing science fiction to lasers and explosions does the genre a great disservice. Watch Blade Runner or read the works of Isaac Asimov to see what the genre's really about.
You know what the best part of this movie is? How often can you tell somebody that you just watched a movie about a giant robot with spider legs and a chainsaw penis? It's an awesome conversation to have.
@kendo207 Do it my friend. robot jox was one of my favorite movies when i was a wee lad. it kicks more ass then you can imagine. if it had tom cruise or some shit as leading role it would have been a huge movie.

Just two of the very quoteable lines from this movie its cheesy now days, but like army darkness its become a cult hit for mech/robot fans, if you dont take it seriously (who would take giant robots seriously?) then its quite an enjoyable movie, either way I loved it.
Robot Jox was the shit I remember watching this when I was 10 or 11, great stuff, I bought it on DVD recently, its cheesy as hell now, but in away that makes it great still, plus the fx back then were great, plus it started my love for giant robots which rule!!
I believe that there was a nuclear war that destroyed most of this civilization and now this is how wars are fought and disputes settled. One of the best "Robot Jox" of one country goes up against the best "Robot Jox" of the opposing country. Whichever wins the fight wins whatever was in dispute. It's been quite sometime since I've watched this movie. I remember when it first came out on Cinimax way back when.
Well, you all shouldn`t classify the movie as "dumb' or "goofy".
For the time it was a good sci-fi/action movie with descent effects and acting crew, attractive mostly for the teens. How many of you don`t want to "drive" such thing in the real live, huh?
You know I have vague memories of such a film, I thought it was just my imagination, but now i see someone else mention it, I know it must be real, will have to go look for it now.
"Im Gonna Kick Your ASS" thats what he says, the last fight in here was so cool, they go to outer space and then back to earth and then carry on fighting it was a true end of battle stuff.
