  • Who can help us to get sheetmusic of this song (for flute). Our 7 year old son is a great fan of Thijs van Leer and would really love to try to play this song. At the moment he's practicing on Tchaickovsky's Swan Lake and other popular pieces we could find, but House of the King is what he is looking forward too. Many thanks for who ever can help us.

  • I've heard only 2 songs by them and I love them already!!!...carmine6786-hahahaha!!

  • thanks for this one.

  • he 's so fat :)

  • I really don't think focus could be accused of copying Tull (or the other way around for that matter). Both bands were in their early years, developing their sound. In many ways they are very different, Focus being keyboard and guitar led from classical roots and an instrumental band, with Tull growing out of a guitar blues outfit with a strong vocalist. 'Living In The Pat' and 'House Of THe King' sound a little similar only because they have lead flute in them - a superficial similarity only.

  • Wow... what a King !

  • does anyone knows where i can find the notes? i want to learn this song! i play also flute, so, and i really like the song!

  • @NienieAdinda I have the sheet music for flute. Not sure how to get a copy to you? It was printed in 1970 so I doubt you will find it now in print

    G A B A G A G F# E E F G F# E F E D E first bit .

  • @Ash1955 you could try to scan it into your pc, and upload it on some site, like photobucket, and then you can send me a link, so i can print it. i really hope that it is possible!

  • Great version, I've seen em twice and they've been amazing both times.

I should probably complain about the drums being too loud, but it just makes me headbang MORE!

Much as I would like to see Jan Akkerman back, I hope this line-up will be around for a lot longer, and cannot wait for the new album they're doing :D

  • Can anyone esle hear the Tull like sound in the music. Ian Anderson must be making a fortune on other copying his sound. But it is all good as they say. Brilliant by Focus. I hope they tour England again soon. Brilliant.

  • I don't think Anderson would be making any money from people using his sound and style. Focus have been around a long time & developed their own style. It might bear a similiarity between Tull just because the lead plays flute, but really that's the only comparison. To take nothing away from Van Leer, Anderson is a better song writer & musician, his songs are exquisitely & eloquently composed on so many levels. Anderson OWNS flute rock!

I've seen FOCUS on tour once and loved them live.

  • @sonofherne. Argged both Van Leer and Anderson are amazing song wirtters and can both play the flute really well to.

  • @paulwall1981 They'll be appearing @ Weyfest Sept 4th 2010

  • What was the TV program that used this song as its intro? Brilliant band just spent a great hour watching, listening.. being moved

  • "Don't Ask Me", science programme with Magnus Pyke, David Bellaymy and Miriam Stoppard. In the UK anyway, can't speak for the rest of the world.

  • This theme music takes me back. I grew up in New Zealand and we used to get "Don't Ask Me" there, albiet probably two years after the Brits viewed it.
