I've never really hear her before. It is a mighty voice! And a brave thing to do! Filling in for Liza. Orchestra was probably already rehearsed...no doubt some production-wag thought her doing the same song a brilliant homage/wheeze/dynasty-invoking idea! Good on her!
this is good - but i think ive figured out what happened. Liza didn't get all the talent, but Lorna wasn't around her mother when her voice was at its peak in the fifties - she was very young. Liza was. She performed and took her lead from that voice and Lorna took her lead from the mid sixties - when Judy's voice and style changed. We get our accents, and often singing styles from our parents. e.g. my dad is british. my sis born just after he came here, me much later after he lost his accent
This should be a crime. Not saying Lorna doesn't have her own talents. But why on Earth would anybody - especially somebody this close to the real thing (i.e., Liza) - even attempt this song? It boggles my mind.
@CSPATL ..A 10? Really?? for Showmanship? I know this will sound harsh, but I don't see much here that I couldn't find at a grade school talent show. Sorry, not a fan. Long Live Liza.
This is my big CHANCE, Mama; I HAVE to do this song! I just hope they don't see how my thin voice shakes & shivers outta control at the big wind-up.... Well, I'll wear my sparkly red dress and flap my arms a lot when I'm in trouble, and they'll never know the diff.... Oh Mama, I'm gonna knock Liza right off the charts!!!

Voice: 10. Showmanship: -10. Just doesn't compare to Liza's stage presence.

WOW - Lorna should keep this song in her act. Maybe she'll do a new act called "Songs My Sister Liza Minnelli's fans taught me"
