@1:20 Valley Stream Engine 343 was an awasome truck. I was in Engine 342 and sometime we had 343 as a spare truck and drove it many times to calls. I think the town of Valley Stream has it in there museum.
I used to feel so bad for the firefighters who rode in and on the open cabs on inclement weather days.It would rain and snow and these poor guys would probably be sick by the time they got back to the house.North Bergen,NJ had 3 pumpers and a tiller that were open when I was a kid.
I always felt sorry for the fire fighters in the town i grew up in,North Bergen,NJ.They had open cabs and they would freeze during the winter and when it rained they would be totally soaked. They were always exposed to the elements. And worse there would be 2 in the cab and 2 or 3 hanging on the back. They had the open cab Mack trucks. Not sure what year the trucks were.
These are really cool. However, having grown up out here in "Central Cal". I've always been very partial to "our" good old Open Cab "Crown's" and "Van Pelt's". Thank you for these beautiful images!
the creater of this video owns the one from Dunbar, PA a buddy of mine in Reading PA owns the one from Monarch, and I own the one from Cumberland, MD. Only 13 CF-600's were built. These 3 do show up on the muster/parade circut in PA, MD, VA and even in DC.
I like the Green n' white ones from Pennsylvania and that solid white truck co from Riverside. If it's not in reserve status still. I hope a museum or collector has it in a barn somewhere. It was very beautiful. But it got a condom put on it, with that fiberglass roof. I guess the crew needed some protection. All puns intended. Ha, ha, ha!......Oh, let's please see a similar vid done on the Open Cab Crowns and VanPelt's here in California. LA ordered Open Cabs longer than anyone else, I think.
I think it looks great in the yellow/green color! Our trucks are the same color. When people ask why they arent red, we tell them they haven't ripened yet!
HAHA! This is funny because I lived in a city where our fire trucks were yellow/green. This city is changing the color of their trucks to red now. They are ripening lol.
I live and am a firefighter in New Kensington. Engine 3 was the 9th out of 12 pumpers and 1 aerial with open cabs that Mack made. Engine 3 is the only one still in front line service. It was refurbished in 1991 by New Lexington. The open cab was kept open. It is still going strong and answers over 125 alarms annually.
great video!!!!!!!!! I am from the villa de alvarez fire departmente this is in colima, mexico, and we have a 64 mack. this are the greatest firetrucks erver made.thanks for the video.
