it was just disappointing to me that they took the heavy gear from its universe and plopped it into a cartoon about a tournament without doing the original story any justice.

i remember reading somewhere that originally the show used the tournament as an introduction and was to go into the war, but somehow they lost their drive and just drew it out.

The Execs thought the show's audiance wouldn't be able to keep up with the original story...despite the fact shows like half of Mainframe's projects and Roughnecks:Starship Troopers Chronicles were being broadcast around the same time.

@Retehi actually the company felt that little kids (cartoons target audience was 8 to 12) wouldnt be able to follow the (Original) concept, which was first the two teams fight in the contest then Join forces to repel the invaders from earth. They felt little kids would be confused seeing the heros and villians work together. so Instead they decided to go purely for gladiatorial combat with gears rather then explain the heavy gear story.

Serious Nostalgia who cares if the animation wasn't fantastic? It's one of those shows that was more original than anything out there but still ended up getting cancelled.

People should be attempting more things like this just using pure CGI because lets face it, green screen actors are shit and it's beginning to tell more and more with each film.

I only bought volume 1 and 2 cause it was all I could find in stores in person but i loved the T-rex mech that was an awesome episode acctully the tournament as a whole surronding that episode with other episodes was probaly the best tournament amoung the other tournaments. I miss the whole series line up as well but hey, maybe we will get lucky and it randomly lands in theaters we will just have to wait and see.

@ArcanaM00n ACTUALLY... the three shows you listed are perfect examples of early CGI implementation making its way onto mainstream TV in the LATE 90s/early 2000... in some cases together with traditional animation. They are fucking awesome so ima go ahead and say shit hit the fan later on... and you see alot of animated CGI crap not because its CGI, but because of lazy writters and terrible creative teams...

Well... I've played Heavy Gear alot. Since I've seen this show, I felt that was made for kids, the colors, the characters, the taunts and the nascar-like tournament background.

I was specting something like Heavy Gear 1 cinematics (with greater efects) that would be awesome.

Besides, is a shame that this game isn't known and popular. Every one talk about NFS series, Counter Strike, Call of Duty, Starcrafts, Command and Conquers, an so on....
